Records Will Fall

I saw the updates on Facebook and I'm following Matthew on Strava but only after he finished the whole effort did I look at each ride on Strava to see what kind of power he averaged each day for 15ish hours and check the routes. I read early on that he was heading up to do it at a higher elevation and figured it was going to be as flat as possible because it is a distance record, not climbing. Very inspirational. I'd need to be in a Streamliner or Velomobile to even think of covering that distance, and I still wouldn't even bet on myself haha.

Maybe he will go for the other end of the spectrum next time and try for the Everesting record. Which is a 10X if I remember correctly. There are some people in this world on an amazing level of mental and physical capability.

Yes there are. There is also RAAM and the Trans Am in the US, as well as some other ultra-endurance races. I like the unsupported races more and was even hoping to do the Trans Am when I first got my V20 so I'd love to see how well he'd do in that one.

As good as the V20 is, of my 4 bikes (2X road, MTB and V20), it would the last choice I would use for Everesting. The V20 trump card is aero efficiency which is great for distance records... but not so good for elevation records where the trump card is low weight and being able to do continuous high power comfortably. For me the V20 is too much work without the ability to mix up muscle sets (sit/stand/move around on saddle) for long steep climbing required for everesting. But it sure is great for fast ultra long distances!!

I'd agree with you there. Although my first thought when getting my S40 was can I Everest it but the health issues said no more Everesting for me.
