Wheel Set Specs for Q45

Hey All
My 26 x 1.75 tires make riding on the beach quite hard. I think smaller, wider tires might be better, but it's confusing trying to get all the right specs.

I am SUPER short, I barely fit the Q45, so being lower to the ground is a plus.
My Q45 is older....I wanna say it is a 2017 model, disc brakes, and I think it is a through axle.

Can someone recommend the right stuff to buy? There are no bike shops in my area so I have to order it all.

Hoping for some insights.

The main thing to know for sure to get the correct info here is if you have a through axle Q or a quick release. I am not sure we had through axles on the Q in 2017.

Some close up pictures of your existing wheels would be helpful. Focus on the axle.

Agree with Robert. 2017 is too early for thru axles. In the unlikely event that you do have thru axles, below is a helpful link for your use case

Otherwise, there are other options on eBay for 24 inch wheels in the other style of axle which is a quick release.

Not sure if you want smaller than 24 inch wheels. Tire options get very limited.

You can also just try to max out the tire on the 26 inch rims. Not sure you will like it being very short. But 24 inch rims are not much lower.

Where are you located?

Thanks Robert. Yes, I should have gotten all the facts before posting. My bike does have the quick release tires on front and back. I'll check out the link posted by CruzRider......but for sure, any input/advice you may have is certainly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey CruzRider,
Thanks for the link. I should have gotten all the facts before posting, but my bike was in a car at another household.

ANYWAY, it is clearly a quick release on front and back, so that will simplify finding a wheel.

Can I ask you: my current tires are 26 x 1.75. So....can I put a wider tire on those rims? I highly doubt it.
I'd like to put at least 2.35. I have read that my Cruzbike can take up to 2.5 inch wide tires. I don't mind buying new rims, I just get overwhelmed with all the specs and variables!

I live in Long Beach, Washington.....the ONLY safe place to ride here is along the ocean in the wet sand. There are NO safe shoulders on the roads here, unfortunately. But it is HARD riding with the 1.75 wide tires.

Any guidance will be appreciated, but I WILL use the link you included. I see the article is geared for EXACTLY my situation, and explains the specs, so I'm probably all set. THANK YOU!!!

Ok, that article was VERY helpful.
But it left me with a new question: surely I wont' have to replace my brake rotors??? All the videos I watched showed the tire just switching over, with no mention of the disk brakes (except I'm not supposed to squeeze the brake lever)

For the record, there are no bike mechanics here. They only want to sell or rent bikes to tourists.

Just reading through the forum, you may be able to go up to 2inches on your 26 inch rims.

At much wider you need the 24 inch rims that the Cruzbike article refers to.

I am guessing you have 6 bolt rotors. If you get the same spec (and not centerlock ) on your new wheelset, you can switch them over.

Thank you 3x, CruzRider.
That bike shop you linked is the next town over, I can certainly try them.
Meanwhile, I have a friend inquiring at HIS bike shop, maybe they can ship the correct wheelset, and I can install it. I'm not afraid of the install. I'm just afraid of buying the WRONG stuff.
Thank you so much for your time!
