Q45 Under seat water bottle cages

Hi all. Can anyone post pics of under seat water bottle cages working on Q45s? With and without bottles in them.

I can't figure it out. With the bottle top facing forward the quick releases get in the way. With the bottle top facing backwards the bottles will surely fall out.

What am I missing? Thanks

The mounts there are really leftover from the older days when the bike had an entirely different seat, and the newer style does get in the way, unfortunately. I have seen a few of these position adjusters used to effectively "lower" the cages to a better position, though I can not speak to how effective they are at maintaining the position without moving with repeated bottle insertions.

Thanks for the info. Okay, so as standard the Q45 only has mounting points for 2 medium size water bottles on the back of the seat, with no space to split/double those out. That's not enough water for me so lets consider ways to carry more water.

I think using the position adjusters to change the under seat bottle cage positions backwards would not solve the quick releases get in the way. Moving them forwards might but it would put the top of the bottle past the end of the seat, so in the way of your legs.

Topeak make these very large very adjustable cages. We could try fitting those under the seat then strap in some type of bottle https://www.topeak.com/us/en/product/371-MODULA-JAVA-CAGE

Another option would be to get a bladder like these https://www.apidura.com/shop/frame-pack-hydration-bladder/ Ideally one that would fit into the CB Sling Pack, so not that one...

My current go-to is mounting the bottle cage to the boom/slider (not sure what the correct name is . I zip tied a Wolf Tooth BRAD to the boom and then connected the bottle cage to it. I found the silicone tape under the zip ties keeps the unit from moving after repeated use. The previous thread that Mathew pointed you to may also show another way to do this (it's been a while since I looked).
As soon as I can get outside for longer rides I plan to try strapping a Camelback hydration pack to the rear rack.
