Some Ideas from a Noob about Getting the Hang

I'd like to use this post to provide encouragement to new owners of Cruzbikes who are struggling. I am not an athlete, do not play one on TV, and have no great sense of balance. I've never been able to ride no-hands on an upright bike. Hell, I can't even do that rolling dismount where you...

Resistance was Futile: I. Have. Been. Assimilated.

Yes, Mark B, it is just as you prophesied. Yesterday I planted my a** in Nanda's Silvio, and (per plan), spent exactly one hour doing laps around the Spinshed, at which point I got off, shook his hand, and said, "Let us go forth and build a Silvio, that we may smite the UCI--in total comfort."...

Silvio Test Ride: Review and Questions

Hi, everybody. This is my first post to the Silvio board. I'd been just about set to buy a Sofrider V2, until yesterday, when I test drove the Silvio. Wanted to offer my impressions. My main bike is a RANS Stratus, which I ride all the time. I also own a road bike, which I never ride any...

Almost Ready to Order: Can you Help w/ Spec?

How about the triple crankset (Sugino XD2/XD600 46-36-24/165mm). Any dependencies/constraints to using that? It's not the latest model, so am assuming no problems using it w/ 8-speed. And as I mentioned my x-seam is 42-43, FWIW. Thank you.

Almost Ready to Order: Can you Help w/ Spec?

Rick, Uses: 1. 3-4 times a week, I do a one-hour "workout" run at lunchtime, on good roads, over varied terrain. In general, the topography here is varied. There are flats and multi-mile hills that gain a thousand or two feet of elevation. 2. A couple of times a month, I'd like to get in...

Almost Ready to Order: Can you Help w/ Spec?

All, I'm close to a decision on ordering a Sofrider V2. I've decided on 3 possible configurations. I created a little spreadsheet, viewable at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pxPoqiS1EL_xwNM7U8BeLEQ, which I provided to my dealer. He suggested I post it here for feedback. Basically...

    Long distance touring

Doug: Wow, that must be some suspension. I'm amazed you can run 559x1.0 at 120 psi and not have your tooth fillings fall out. This is what happened when I ran 559x28 Schwalbe Stelvios on my Stratus (on good roads, mind you), causing me to switch to 26x1.5's @ 85psi and never look back. And...

    Sofrider V2 Specs

Rick: Thanks for the detailed account of your first experiences. I can now go into this process with proper expectations. I plucked the above quote b/c to me it's as important as everything else folks have written. I'm 52 and simply cannot ride in an upright position. I've been demo-ing...

    Planning Ahead

    Sofrider V2 Specs

Doug: Thanks for the reply. I'm 5'10" w/ a ~29 inch inseam and a ~41-42" x-seam. Think a triple would work w/ these measurements? FYI, I hope to test drive a Silvio this weekend. I can't wait.

    Planning Ahead

Care to hazard a rough guess as to how long that good while might be? I'm a hair shorter than 5'10" and would die on the terrain around here without a triple. OTOH, I may die if I don't get me one of these babies soon. Peter

    Sofrider V2 Specs

Hello. This is my first post. I'm considering the Sofrider V2 but have several questions. 1. http://www.cruzbike.com/sofriderv2.html lists one set of drivetrain components, while Doug Barton's comparison of the V1 and V2 states: The V2 replaces the original Shimano Alivio and Revoshift parts...
