Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

In other words, keep hydrated, don't go above your threshold and you can pretty much ride a bike for a long time.

    I'll just hop that curb!

Ouch, not good. Another thing I've learned is going up a kerb which has been lowered, be sure to go up at an angle which is as close to perpendicular as possible with the kerb. You get into a habit of approaching a kerb on a DF at a shallow angle and lifting the front wheel, which you cannot do...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

LOL, forgot there are two R's. The last one.

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Nope, get ride of the valve nut and the valve needs to be centred with the writing so the 'R' of 'PANARACER' it is.:)

    How to be safe from....?

Reading this from someone over the giant pond, it would appear that this is a thing which is largely confined to bike trails? If this is the case then this would be the reason why this does not occur that often in the UK, what is almost certain I think is that we tend to ride more on the road...

    Post-Surgery Fitness Loss

I'm feeling people's pain. I had an off 5 weeks ago today and fractured my hip (a NOF intertrochanteric), was on a DF just finishing an audax and came down hard on a wet pavement. I was about 200 yards from the finish. Coming off the road, doing about 4-5 mph across a wet pavement/sidewalk...

Website suggestions for educating self re: Rotor Q rings

On another note, and you might already been doing this. Do you use pedals with free float? As these are the most knee friendly ime.

    Sore back V20

It is about my only criticism of the V20 and that it could have a better seat, if only the V20 had the same seat as the Metaphysic... As others have mentioned you can buy an alternative seat from Volae or Thor, there's a few threads on here regarding seat modification. I myself bought some...

Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

What the guy says is straightforward and I agree. Ratz has it right. However I would like to know what guys on tour are on a keto-ish diet. I would not mind having a look at their eating plans if there is any information regarding this. My guess is that they take on a lot of lean carbs i.e...

Testing week in Asheville, NC June 25 - July 1

This is making for interesting reading - good work. And is it not a faff shifting with those bar end shifters on the Hammerhead?

After 4500 miles on my V I've developed "tennis elbow"

Before and after photos showing the bar being raised, had the same issues with my wrists with them not being straight. I also extended the bar more to make my arms straighter with less of an angle at the elbow. Now all okay.

Climbing and bb height, low gears

I'm not mistaken at all, please read again what I posted. :) The point I was making was the trade off in the increase in power needed to push what is imo an under inflated tyre compared to one that is inflated to 100psi, hence my question to the OP about pumping up the tyre. I want to see know...

Climbing and bb height, low gears

imo I think a 10% hill which is wet would result in most riders (myself included) having a few issues with wheel slipping. For me your front tyre needs pumping up, 60psi is too soft, whilst I appreciate it would give better traction the increased power needed would outweigh this I think. Have...

    better climber?

All things being equal the V20 should be quicker going up a hill. Being lighter than the a S30? And certainly having a lower drag coefficient.

Boom ... was that an S30 that just passed you?

My eyes, MY EYES!!!!;) Good report though.

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

The teeth on the chainring would be pointy like sharks teeth with a slight wavey look to them. This will mostly come about riding with a chain that is worn, as it does not sit square between the sprocket teeth which is why you get wear. In fact 99% of drivetrain woes ime comes from a worn...

Do you push or do you pull?

When I first started riding I used to put way too much emphasis on my upper body to deliver power rather than my legs. This can be quite tiring to say the least. As Rick mentioned, try and keep the upper body relaxed, get a nice cadence going and you should find it less strain on the upper body...

Testing week in Asheville, NC June 25 - July 1

Interesting point, I'm curious about this as well. All the talk about power losses in the chain, seat etc, etc with standard RWD recumbents. Be interesting to see how power delivered at the pedals differs to that at the wheel.

Boom ... was that an S30 that just passed you?

I've no doubt that the new S30 is a good bike, and it looks to be more of a bike that can be thrown around it a bit more through the corners due to it's slightly shorter wheelbase which would make it easier to filter in traffic. But is it not eating into the realm of where the V20 sits in terms...
