    Quest Diatech aheadset replacement

David, I have used several methods of preloading the the stem on my Quest 559 (none worked consistently well), but never thought to use threaded rods of which I have and are even now staring into my face! Kudos for bringing that idea to this forum! My problem, and others who have snapped the...

    Quest Diatech aheadset replacement

Cruzbiker, what I was implying is that one doesn't have to replace headset parts, just use a star nut/bolt (needs to be a looong bolt when using the long stock fork tube extender) to do the tensioning.

    Quest Diatech aheadset replacement

I changed the steering to putting handlebars on a slider tube I made, and added a star nut to secure the headset without changing cups, race, etc. You would just need a longer star nut bolt. Page down to my April 1 entry on this forum page...

    Slow Ride

The heat is not a problem, not that I like it, but I wear a long john (50/50 cotton/polyester) top and keep it wet. The evaporation keeps me cool, sometimes when biking into the wind I get so cold I get goose bumps! I just plan on 20 oz h20 to initially wet my top, then about 10 oz h20 per 3...

Concerns about a lower seat angle: anyone been there?

In my experience "recumbutt" (don't actually know what that is as I have been totally comfortable riding CruzBikes), is better than on DFs where at times I thought my seat was on fire! I currently have a Quest 559 and Quest X100. They both have the same frame and adjustable seat. Seat adjusts...

    Slow Ride

I can see it...when I get something for my bike...test it...test it...It works!..then I to go nuts:pand usually speed is involved, then because I live in Phoenix the traffic and drivers cutting me off :mad: brings me to reality for safety's sake :( and I slow down to my 12-15 mph cruising...

    Tire pressure talk

I'm riding on Schwalbe Marathon Plus 559x35 tires at 60-70 psi (recommended is 55-95 psi). This gives me a smooth ride as well as very few flats! :) At first use I tried out 95 psi, but the ride was very harsh. So I started lowering psi first at 80 which gave a better ride. Then tried 70 which...

    QX100 Steering Mod

The green bikes are a bike share program called grid bikes. There are bike racks for them in hundred of locations and anybody with a credit card can rent them by the hour on a daily, monthly, or yearly subscription. They then can ride anywhere then return the bike to one of those special bike...

QX100 for a customer in Norway

I have an X100 also, it's great, with adjustable seat pan and seat back angle, disc brakes, rear suspension, aero rack, and the CruzBike front end make it a great bike for fun, commuting, errands, and coasting in comfort in CruzBike reclined position with a big smile!:)

    QX100 or Sofrider 2

What are your goals? The X100 is an all around utility and touring recumbent bike with options for rack and that has adjustable seat (forward and back and seat angle), adjustable boom that allows it to fit different leg lengths, allows larger tire widths, suspension on rear, disc brakes. I use...

    N24HC 2016

Myaverage speed self contained touring (with 35 pounds of gear, 35 pound bike, and 150 for me) over long distances has historically been better than 8. Maybe I should have been racing all these years!;)

    Silvio 1.0 v. S30

Softrider and recreational rider sounds like a Q or an X100 would be right for you. But if you are more performance oriented, then a Sylvio or Vendetta may be for you. I'm just saying, there are different rides for different riders. If you are not racing and ride for leisure then a Q or an X100...

Research is good, but experience is golden! If you enjoy bicycling then ride, ride, and then ride some more. Research is good, but when you ride you test that research, which helps in preparation for the ride, but the ride experience really is what teaches. And the ride is what is enjoyable!:)

    Asembling my new Q559

The two cylindrical aluminum pieces are to widen the seat post attachment (see pics) for say putting on the the aero touring and commuting rack.
