    How Far Can I Go

Thank you for your drawing. So, here goes. You were/are correct. I was trying to adjust the position of the cranks for my leg length. For some reason, and perhaps because geometry was never my thing, I thought that there was more than one way of doing that. However, I guess I'd like to see...

Searching out the limits on the V20.

In the county (Washington, MN) I live in, there's ample hills to test ones nerves on. There are a few that if it weren't for side traffic potentially getting involved in your craziness, one could pedal real hard at the start of said hill, stop pedaling, and just lay low for the thrill of trying...

Searching out the limits on the V20.

my fastest garmin recorded speed is 48.5 mph (77kph), and that a bit of a pucker time for me. I just felt the bike was not stable enough, and maybe that was the long chainstay talking, or maybe I just need more practice. I don't know if i will ever have enough opportunities to get comfortable...

    How Far Can I Go

So we can share the same terminology I made this spiffy drawing showing my understanding of what's what. I think (maybe?) this corresponds to official Cruzbike HQ approved terminology ... From the photo included in the original message in this thread showing the chainstay and an arc towards...

An S40 update 350 miles in

New V20 owner and feel that I'm getting very close to having it dialed in, but still feel that the bars are still a little high. I'm 6ft with slightly shorter arms. Not sure what chainstay is stock, haven't changed it. My feet feel good where there at.

An S40 update 350 miles in

The curved slider has a lot to do with the rider's height and the length of the chainstay. At 5'5" I use the short chianstay, and by the time I adjusted it to where I wanted it for my x-seam, the handlebar was too high for my liking. It even obstructed my view. Using the medium chainstay...

Chain jump/slipping when increased pedal force used

That is a good point, as after adjusting the boom length, I forgot to tighten the chainstay clamps, and the front derailleur changing went to pot!!!! When I stopped at the bottom of a long hill, and went to manually move the chain onto the Granny sprocket (EVERONE should have one!!!!), that the...

New V20 Build Saga with Surprising Result

As I wrote, Jack, such a low BB was what I wanted to avoid and figured correctly that I would need the 21 inch chain stay assembly to replicate the geometry I wanted. As it turned out, what I wanted was incorrect- a lower BB actually is better for me. For one thing, it somehow mitigated my...

New V20 Build Saga with Surprising Result

...I've seen in pics appear to have the slider almost parallel with the ground. I'm perplexed that the availability of 3 different chainstay lengths seems to be a CB corporate open secret! CB HQ, if you're listening, please make the various chainstays available on the CB retail website. Thanks...

Too big or too small for Cruzbike? Check the Chart. Take the Poll.

I have a 46+ inch x-seam and have been loving a Silvio 2.0 with 100 mm cc extension (avatar shows bike with previous 150mm ext.) and have just recently been dealing with this whole CB fitting issue as in the past 3 weeks have accomplished 3 complete frame-builds. I stripped the S2.0 of all...

Too big or too small for Cruzbike? Check the Chart. Take the Poll.

5'6.75", 168 lbs and in the green zone on Ken's chart. Is the green zone intended to imply that a buyer can expect the Cruzbike to fit "out of the box", without additional cost mods? Or does the green zone indicate that with sufficient effort and, perhaps, additional expense one can expect to...

An S40 update 350 miles in

Got'cha Benphyr, thanks for the clarification. I guess that should have been obvious, sorry for the confusion. As younger folks like to post on web forums like this, "+1". With any luck there's a photo of the headset area of my partially disassembled S40 attached in my reply. In my case I could...

An S40 update 350 miles in

I used a fork stem extender on my V20 for this exact problem. It has worked very well. I didn't need the full length of the extender, so it was cut off. Much easier experimenting with a $12 extender!

An S40 update 350 miles in

I just swapped the stock medium chainstay for a short on my S40 and the improvement in fit is dramatic. Last time I checked I was at about the 40'th percentile height for U.S. adult humans, but apparently the S40's one-size-fits-some frame was targeting a much taller subgroup of the population...

An S40 update 350 miles in

...for a given leg length and as @velocio mentioned also lowers the bars but these are side effects once you've decided to change the chainstay length. So why change them? Obviously there's a design center that Cruzbike was targeting in terms of rider height, leg length, etc., and I'm sure the...

An S40 update 350 miles in

I didn't see this mentioned previously in this thread, but if it was and I missed it my apologies... Another thing to note about using a longer chainstay is that the BB will need to rotate upwards to accommodate the same leg length. Due to the well known teeter-tooter effect (well known to 2'nd...

    Hardware For S40 Stock Seat

I added two S/S washers to my preowned S30, with Velcro as the major joining method! I will add two rubber washers, as the nylon washers I have are too thick! THANKS for the info!!!!

    Hardware For S40 Stock Seat

Hey Cruzfolk, I have an S40 that I bought "used", which is to say the first owner assembled it and rolled it around a parking lot enough to know it wasn't for him. It was claimed to be a "custom build", which I now realize means the first owner assembled it himself from parts he collected. I...

Before and after 19.5" vs 21" chain stay

Are there objective standards for choosing different lengths? For example, certain inseam should equate to certain chainstay length, or is it more subjective, for example comfort and riding style?

Before and after 19.5" vs 21" chain stay

Does anyone know what the 19.5" and 21" measurements refer to? Is it the distance from center of BB shell to center of dropout? BTW, that same measurement on my S40 is about 7". I don't see different length chainstays, or any chainstays, listed for sale on the Cruzbike website. Are they also...
