    In almost all situations I start with my dominant foot (right) and continue for one or two full revolutions peddling with one foot only. This allows me to balance, works fine for me.

    If the bike didn't hit something hard on the road, I don't see how this aluminum part could fail like that. There was maybe a hidden material weakness, micro-crack or something like that. It looks like a twisting force caused the part to fail. A closer look at the broken surface should give more...

    must have crashed seriously. I had a look at my Silvio 2 frame and it looks quit sturdy at this welded connection.

    I'm not a racer. My max. speed was 74 km/h downhill without peddling. Otherwise my speed is limited by the ''motor'' (built year 1945). ;-)

    Currently I have 50-39-30 with an 11-36 casette on my Silvio 2.1 with 165 mm cranks. I was able to climb most hills with the 39 / 36 combination. This winter I'm planning to convert to 50-34 with 150 mm cranks. Will see how this works out.

    it's getting worse. Why not implement CharlesPlager's recommendation. 1) Move to model where new users are approved. At the very least, they need to have a valid email address where they can click on a link that is sent to them.
