    Climbing hills on a V20?

Osiris -= Yes, it almost looks like the center of the BB is aligned with the bottom of the seat. For reference, mine is around 7" above. My boom is nowhere horizontal either but definitely more than this picture. Get the BB at the right height is a dance between crank length, chainstay length...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Thanks Ed. You are right. I am a small guy and not really very powerful. I have spent most of my time testing and refining my Vendetta and me to be aero together. That is why 200watts can get me 25mph. My lowest calculated CdA using the Chung method was about 0.154.

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Nobrakes, You are correct about total bike weight, and the more climbing the more the total weight makes a difference. You are also correct about a lower BB is better for climbing. A high BB is better for aero because it cuts a hole in the air where you shoulders are. Chances are, because you...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

It is all smoke and mirrors! :D I still have to apply quite a force to make the Vendetta go 28mph on a flat course. This is one of the few times in my life that being a little guy (5'7" with my shoes on) is an advantage. It helps me be really aero and tucked into the bike frame. You also have...

    Curved Slider

Great to hear you had good success with going to a shorter chainstay. Although I am curious why you went straight from the largest 23.5" to the smallest 19.5" and did not try the medium 21.5". I love mine curved slider - and I am sure you will to. It does bring the handlebars down nicely.

    Mavic UST

I had a horrible time trying to mount ProOnes to a set of Chinese rims. My LBS finally mounted one, but they told me to never come back. I rode it all year, but when it lost pressure in the winter it just fell off the edges and could never re-mount. Now, I have had excellent results with the...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

As you can see this is a really wide opened question based on what we have said already. A lot really depends on how you fit on each bike. I am 5'7" and the Vendetta fits me like a glove. It is almost like it was made for me and my size. I a really low CdA on it. If you have a longer torso your...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

I would still encourage you to send us some pictures of you on the bikes. The power to speed "should" be pretty close, so something will stick out to us if we can see it and compare. Lots of knowledge in the collective Tribe here - put it to use!

    Crash

Hi Kenneth, Yes we can see it now. Your top tube on your fork is most likely bent or ruptured. That must have been some "gap"you got stuck in!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Yes, you need a new fork. Send an email to robert@cruzbike.com with this photo and the version of you Vendetta. I...

    Crash

Wow Kenneth - First: hope you are OK. If the wheel is hitting the frame, my first conclusion without seeing anything is that the fork is bent. If the chainstay was bent, it would only shorten the distance and I think would make the wheel farther from the frame. Hard to tell without any pics...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

I see - but can also see there was some climbing, etc. Hard to know what the wind was etc. Maybe if you rode the same route 30-40 times consecutive days and took a snip of the power data from the exact section for each day and averaged it, then did the same thing for the Vendetta you could...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

20 watts added to 300 watts, say at 25mph is only 6.7% increase in wattage, which using aerodynamic speed/power formula will only yield a 1.7% increase in speed (1.7% of 25mph is only 0.4mph - still something, but over 1 mile it is only 0.037 minutes (or 2.2 seconds) and then only for as long...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Yes, you wattage values appear to be very hi for that speed! 327 watts. Wow - how long was your "test" time, and where? closed loop track with no interruptions? I also have an M5 CHR and my V20 beats it in every test I have done, but they are very close. Coast down, constant wattage and speed...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Exactly Jason! This is one of the best statements in this Thread! If you are really racing and maxed out at your LT, then even if you arm muscles are rested, you aerobic system will not really allow you to apply more power/energy. Best you can do is use your upper body for a minute or 2 and let...

    V20 on velodrome

I know of nothing, but it would be really hard to get athletes of equality ability and fitness on each platform. Even the type of DF bike would matter and really it is a package deal. Rider + bike = CdA. A fully setup and tuned TT bike is extremely aero, but I still have never seen a TT bike...

    The Cadence Conversations

My lastest workout where I really concentrated on spinning really fast. https://www.strava.com/activities/1445412617 This was 12 x 6 min intervals that ranged from 88-92 FTP%, so not super high or hard wattages, but a pretty significant time averaging 90% so still a pretty hard workout. For...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Jim Parker just built a wooden base and suspended it from the edges somehow. He has a Wahoo KICKR on it. When he sees this maybe he will post a picture for us

    Climbing hills on a V20?

This is rather hard to explain, but the pulling on the bars is for just just milliseconds and rigorous and it is timed with the pedaling so that not much swerving is really involved. It is an acquired art, and I for one cannot say I am a master at is like Jim Parker is. I have even done it on a...
