First ‘real’ ride outside on the S40

...that little splash of color makes a huge difference! What is the bag/bags on the seat? I'm still sorting out storage and a place for my water bladder, but the seat design doesn't make this easy. I wish the Cruzbike seat fit (or better fit) the "brain box" type storage bags from Bacchetta...

    Losing waterbottles....

Update on testing: I made a minor modification to the bag (didn't even have to take it off the bike) and now the bladders are easily pushed down into the bag. It doesn't seem to take any more time than other pack/bladder combinations I've used and is faster than some because there's no side...

    Losing waterbottles....

I probably will tee them together at some point. I originally thought I'd use one for water & the other for sports drink, but it's way cleaner to keep them just water. I may get a couple of the quick disconnects so I can go back & forth if I want. Unclick the compression strap buckle, untuck...

    Losing waterbottles....

That looks like an excellent location for water bladders, tucked in the slipstream, with good weight distribution. I would “T” the two hoses together if possible. Is it easy to access the bladders for quick refill?

    Losing waterbottles....

As far as I have been able to find, there are no standard hydration bladders that fit neatly behind the s40 seat. I've run a TerraCycle pack with a 3L Camelback bladder attached to the headrest frame and with the two bottom attachment points fixed to the lower water bottle cage mounting holes on...

    May I post, please?

Hi there - I have created a custom, behind the seat twin hydration bladder pack for my S40. I posted on a thread regarding losing water bottles from the CB headrest bottle holder with responses including bladder options. I'd like to post pictures of the pack I made, but it seem I don't yet have...

    Losing waterbottles....

...been trying to find a hydration solution I like on my S40. Over the years of riding different recumbents, I have used both bottles and water bladders. I am going to try and fit a bladder to the seat as I think that will be easier for awhile. It does mean I need to make sure to wash the...

    Water bottle quandary

Bachetta brain bag and water bladder with hose. Magnet or retractable lanyard. 1;5 litre perfect fit for pouch. Make your frame this time from aluminium flat bar. Practical storage and easy. For shorter rides I just pull over and take bidon from bag.

Solo touring in Norway on a loaded Vendetta

Day 3 Today started off as a cold, misty morning. The temperature even dropped below freezing for a bit, but the road was dry and there was no problem riding. The plan for today was originally to ride into Sweden, making this the longest leg of the ride. However, I didn't want to aggravate...

Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

7000 feet of climbing with a big one from mile 81 to 82.5. Depending on your FTP, weight and respiratory exchange ratio, you likely were burning a high percentage of glycogen on the climbs. You ran out at mile 83. Was the 71 miler as hilly?

Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

I rode the Marin Century yesterday, and attempted to do it without fuel, just Nuun-infused water. But I ran out of gas at mile 83. I stopped at the top of a hill, found some shade under a tree, wolfed down two Cliff Bars, and sucked down a lot of water from my hydration bladder. That gave me...

    a little ventisit back surgery

I've been working toward making a suite of bags that is streamlined and let's me carry enough for credit card touring/bike camping. I wanted to put the water below the frame between the wheels but it swings to much there. Where it is now the frame helps keep the water staple.

    a little ventisit back surgery

interesting where you've dangled your water bladder, I've managed to fit mine behind the headrest. Will have to see if it creates a problem in fitting the banana bags as well.

    S40 water bottle mount simplified

Hmm.... thinking how that might work with a rack in place? My current solution is the bottle on the boom with electrolytes and a bladder with water behind my head. I can have a second bottle in one of the seat back positions and swap out with the boom during a stop

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

South Australia could not contend with nsw. We have Sydney harbour. Bondi and manly beaches And Jennifer Hawkins. Nsw invented Australia. How bout those 2000 olympics. Heck South Australia has got a great big bite out of it. Must have tasted very bad like stale sweaty crow eating armpits...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

I was hoping I would get a bite!!! At this stage, SA is not like NSW, where the outflow from the sewage treatment works goes INTO their drinking water!!! My Silvio does NOT ride on Bull Dust, but might be fuelled by Bull ***t! The bag is very functional and can hold a bladder on the top+...

    Leather water bag

Yes I cleaned my old one regularly, but didn't use it for a while and even after cleaning it up again it never felt clean again. I should probably put in a zipper at the top to be able to change it someday

    Leather water bag

I love water bladders but over time no matter seemingly how clean you are the bladder and hose grow nasties. Even just using water and no additional supplements Be mindful of that potential to upset your stomach with an algae blooming hoedown.

My first S40 Audax this weekend

...ride as well, the Carradice rack pack I use has little drop down side panniers that hook onto the rack, they are perfectly sized for a water bladder. On that ride I went through the 2l of water and half a bottle at stops. Since then I have acquired the skill of being able to drink on the...
