T50 - Everyone likes a bike you can kick start

Hmmm. I took it as a not-so-subliminal "women will always opt for the largest possible luggage".;):D

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

I slid the top tube back 1/2" (around 13mm) to experiment with my knee angles. I was happily running quite a flat extension. Previously, I could easily flex my ankle and let my knee go to a full 180 (while at rest, when pedaling I would guess 170 max). Now, I'm seeing more like ~150 degrees at...

    Conversion Kit question

Ok, I've pulled one out and measured it, bigger than I guessed. It is M8 X 20 'coarse'. Which means it is 8mm in diameter with a thread pitch of 1.25mm. Grip length is 20mm. Hopefully, this is the bolt you need. I included a picture just in case.

    Conversion Kit question

I'll have to check when I get home this evening. My brain sez it is probably M6 with a length of ~12-15mm...but I wouldn't go trusting my elderly old brain.

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

The TT pad appears to be greyed out on the products sheet...probably because they chose to work on the other types first. I think I'm going to get a mini for the F/D and a Pod R for the R/D. On the Pod R, I would like to program a single button to downshift everything at once for coming to a...

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Latest update came in today. Looks like they've revamped their website: http://www.xshifter.com/ Hah! Looking thru the new website, they have now got a "mini-pod" that is a simple toggle. Exactly what I wanted for the FD...and probably the RD as well. Binary be good...:p Looks like they're...

    V20 frame quality

While I don't have a full year on my V20 yet, I was very happy with the build quality. I started welding when I was about 10 yrs old and have been in the aircraft industry almost all my life. I would say that the welding on my frame meets or exceeds aircraft-grade standards. IOW, build quality...

    EXPIRED - V2/K - $500 - Escondido, CA

It is a legacy frame-kit, no longer offered. Way back when (I think I bought mine in 2009), Cruzbike offered a "conversion kit" that would convert a fairly common Y-frame MTB into a Cruzbike. After a very short while, the most appropriate of the Y-frame bikes got very difficult to source and...

    V20 finding that fit

My cleats (SPD) are simply mounted as far towards the middle of the shoe as the original slots allow. Size 12-1/2 shoes. I don't mind being 'off', but I would like to better understand what's going on. I am well-known for my adaptability for fitment...and tend to do well by selecting "average"...

Yup, V2/K. Looks just like mine...except cleaner. :D

    V20 finding that fit

Well...I ran out of time to do any testing at a shorter length. Very windy yesterday: strong base wind @ 15mph with strong gusts therein. That 10 mi back to my house was right in the teeth of the wind and once I got onto the main road there was no protection. My normal speed on that road is...

    V20 finding that fit

I've finally gotten around to doing this. Measured BB distance from Seat Pan = 29.75" (75.565cm) 81.28-((16.5/2)+2.25) = 81.28-10.5 =70.78 Looks like my numbers are off by 4.79cm. Nearly 2" (1.886") Hmmmm. I'm very comfy at the current setting. My cleats are at nearly mid-sole, so even if I...

Want to trade a Vendetta 2.0 for a Silvio

LOL, I just entered my measurements. It tells me I should be riding 140mm cranks! I'm 5-11 but 58.5 knee-pedal and 40.5cm hip-knee (99cm total). My current crankset is 165mm...comfy too. I have been thinking about going to a 155mm set (for no reason other than I want to try them)...and I...

Mulholland Double Century and KOM Series Race Report

Very nicely written, enjoyed reading that. My elder brother drove those canyons back in the '60s in dad's Model A hotrod pickup. Dad had to drive up from San Diego to help him one time as he peeled the tires off the front rims in one curve. We left CA when I was 8, so I never got to drive the...

Working harder into the wind / cross wind

I don't know of anyone who 'likes' a headwind...its a drag. Dealing with wind is a mental game for me more than anything. My regular route is an 'out and back', so generally if I have a headwind one way, I'll have a tailwind the other. As long as I can mentally see a downwind run as...

    while saving for a v20 I made .....

While I'm not a stress analyst (I do engineer for food though), gusseting will simply xfer the loads on the fork to the end of the gusset. So, what you would want is to gusset far enough to get to where the steel of the fork is strong enough to react the load. This means shortening the lever arm...

    Little tweaks

Or not. I've been trying to get a standard V20 chainstay for my V20 since Sept of last year. I don't mind waiting for the latest design change but getting Mr. Holler to respond to emails has been a little frustrating (sent another off last week...no response). I'm sure he is very busy building...

    while saving for a v20 I made .....

It does look lovely. However, it isn't the weld that will fracture, it is the margins of the weld and the head-tube (from the fork) which very likely will not survive. The head tube was never designed for that kind of loading...it is too thin in wall thickness. There's just too much lever...

    It's Mallet Season

I think that Camelbak has adapters that will allow one to rig up a quick-disconnect. Not sure which is compatible with which though. Right now, I have a 2l funnel with clear tubing and a shut-off valve. I remove the 'bite valve' and slip the funnel's hose over the stub, burp the system and let...
