    How Low Can you Go?

Re: How Low Can you Go? Camera hijack! Long! I do not see the point of using rear wheel drive. Surely front wheel drive like the picture below would save having to have rods sticking out of the side of the bike to control the folding of the long chain.

Xootr Swift folding bike as donor bike ???

Sorry, I no longer have my Sofrider. Would someone else, please post the dimension. :) I wasn't offering an opinion on the frame tube height, just information. ;) Here is Xootr's advice on Big Apple tyres,"We had enough customers ask if they could use Schwalbe's Big Apple on the Swift to...

Xootr Swift folding bike as donor bike ???

The distance from the top surface of the Xootr Swift's main frame tube to the ground is 25" (640 mm). The bike is very rigid, so as there is no suspension, IMHO you are going to need some extra seat foam on top of the standard Cruzbike conversion seat. :)

First Ride: From South Perth to Bassendean

Yet, why would BikeRadar/Cycling Plus say this then "The Alfine hub gear is the upgraded counterpart to Shimano’s successful Nexus hub. It’s smoother, has a higher-quality feel and looks to be robust enough to go for years. There's a certain beauty about internally geared hubs; they might be...

First Ride: From South Perth to Bassendean

I used parts off a Mirrycle bar-end mirror. ;) :) The mirror used to give me a great rearward view over my right shoulder. You'll find several discussions about hub gears on this forum. I can personally recommend the Shimano Alfine 8. It works great on my FWD recumbent bike. :) An 11...

First Ride: From South Perth to Bassendean

Tobes (crazy_ebot) I'm puzzled by your comments about having to fit a mirror to your Quest. :? The Quest specifications, say under the Components/Accessories section, "Mirrycle Mirror supplied". ;) :) The supplied Mirrycle mirror goes in the bar end but when I used to have a Cruzbike, I...

    The final finishing touch

If it is any help, here is a picture of a pair of Sofrider type handlebars. The picture above is of a Kalloy AL-030 handlebar. I believe that this is the Sofrider standard bar, though the Sofrider uses a black-painted version. Edit You may also want to think about changing your handlebar stem...

    Silvio For Sale

Not Australia or New Zealand as the mirror is on left hand side of the handlebars. ;) :) BTW Does anyone else think that the bars are tilted a long way back? The tips of the brifter levers seem to be almost higher than their pivots. :?

    Scottish Conversion Mk II

Re: Scottish Conversion Mk IIa Looks like your changes to the conversion will be worthwhile. Pity about the tyres though. Whilst you're waiting for the tyres to turn up, maybe now would be a good time to sort out the seat? ;) You wrote earlier in the thread that you feel that you need to...

derailleur hanger? And don't knock your derailler!

What about a Shimano Nexus 8 with a coaster brake? That is compatible with the Jtek shifter. :)

derailleur hanger? And don't knock your derailler!

I highly recommend the Shimano Alfine hub gear. I have an Alfine 8 on my front wheel drive recumbent bike. Shifts are really smooth and it is brilliant being able to shift to any gear when stopped. The well-known bike designer who built my bike used the twist grip shifter off the Nexus 8...

    Jeroen's Pleasure

IMHO The angle of the brifters on those bars looks a little ergonomically uncomfortable. They appear to be at 90 degrees to the TFT. Maybe twistgrip shifters and normal brake levers would be better? :)
