    Q45 at 1000km, +/- some parts

Nice build. Your next upgrade should be the Kind air shock (search these forums for many reports). Less pogo, more control, the frame becomes more rigid. Way, way lighter! Pretty cheap, too, about $75. I use a similar (think) closed cell flotation foam for similar seat-shaping. My experience...

pls. recommend shock w/lockout for Q45

Have you tried the Kind air shock? Many strong endorsements on this forum (including mine, both for Q2 and Q45). Search the forums for "Kind Shock RR1-A5" for many detailed descriptions. For the Q45, you want 165mm. This is a drastically improved ride: stiffer, better handling, better response...

    Cruzbike Owners Location Map?

Was about to add my dot until Google wanted me to sign in. I've become much charier about giving Google every.single.piece of information about my life, and resisted. I'm in Seattle, contact me through this forum, no worries!

    Removing the Q559 shock

Hmm ... Not sure I fully understand what you're proposing, but I'd be very wary of any mods of these mounts. Those are high stress parts of the bike, constantly being worked, and an almost-certain crash if they fail. Sounds like a very bad idea. Did you mean you bought a shock with different...

    Removing the Q559 shock

Yup, what @benphyr said. The only thing I would add is to put a bit of grease on the bolt sleeves when you put them back. That will make this process easier next time, but more importantly will help to quiet any potential squeaks as the swingarm moves.

It's amazing how an approaching storm will boost your riding speed

Yup. Had a thunderstorm bearing down on me coming home yesterday, made it about 20% faster than my usual time. Most of that was humping it on the uphill. I can't go much faster than usual on the flat; like @The Brook , traffic can't be ignored.

Multi-day group ride entry fee sponsorships!

"turned around"? As in "looked backwards while riding"? Very impressive!

Cheapish rear shock comparison. Kind air shock dual V DNM 22 coil

Replying also to @jond The ride on the Q45 with the longer shock is better than on my Q2/100 (upgraded with Q100 front end parts). I would say plusher, even though I have it pumped up much harder. I am much more willing to jump the curb on the Q45, and it doesn't feel like I'm stressing the...

Cheapish rear shock comparison. Kind air shock dual V DNM 22 coil

I ride off a curb/kerb/gutter every day on my commute with the Kind shock, no problem. Travels about 22mm, with a fair amount of overshoot/rebound ... I should probably pump up the negative chamber. I don't have a scale big enough to weigh the original Q45 spring shock, but it clunked right to...

Preferred method to transport your Cruzbike?

I have the same. You can make it fit for short distances, but it's a kluge. I mostly do what @benphyr does, but complicated because I have fenders that require several bolts and a fairly finicky fit.

    Upgrade from Sofrider to Q45??

I've never ridden a Sofrider, but do have many years on a Q2 (which I upgraded effectively to Q100 by replacing front end parts), now on a Q45. I agree with most of what @benphyr said, but I found the Q45 a very significant upgrade because of the much-improved front triangle. It is way more...

    Selling my QX100

25 miles is not enough time. Search these forums for @ratz learning instructions and follow them. In a big empty parking lot. We all went through this stage. There's a learning curve with a big reward at the end.

    Aerodynamics, Dimples and hair/thorns

So then a regular helmet (with air vents making a "dimpled" surface) must be more aerodynamic than those ridiculous military style spherical-shell helmets millennial consider fashionable, right? Not to mention cooler (temperature, not fashion). What's the relation between dimple size and...

Cheapish rear shock comparison. Kind air shock dual V DNM 22 coil

Welcome, Daniel. See my reply to @jond re the kind shock. Yes, light and stiff. You will appreciate both! Just wait till you undo the stock shock and feel the weight! And then don't wait, ride the new shock up a hill or accelerating hard, and feel how it stiffens up the bike. You'll be amazed...

Learning to Ride a Vendetta question?

No! Take the opportunity to try one of these bikes! Don't sit around wondering. If getting to Lumberton isn't too much of a drive (or ride) you might as well have some actual experience to chew on rather than listening to us chatter away. But I will echo @3bs above: start out with a Q45 or...
