Recumbents limited from Cycle North Carolina’s Mountains to Coast tour.

Is this a deja vu repeat of the 1934 ban on recumbents in UCI events? They ban us because they fear us.

Seeking advice for new V20c rider

I would recommend clip in pedals as soon as you feel comfortable with the bike. I find I can handle many tricky, low speed situations much better when clipped in. Many times I will pedal with my dominate leg and out rigger with my other leg while slowly guiding the bike around. This works well...

Post a Pic of your Ride

There is no way my pretty much stock V20 can compare to the ones displayed here so I'll go to the other extreme and post this old photo of a Freerider I had once on my way to the doggy park. I eventually donated the Freerider to our bike collective and replaced it with a T50. The T50 is a...

Need specs on 700c wheels and tires for my Q45

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can come up with an answer for this but to me it seems that going from stock 650b wheels with an ISO of 584mm to a 700c with and ISO of 622mm is not going to work. The larger question is would 700c wheels really make the Q45 faster and why would you want to...

    CRUZBIKE Sigma

Thanks for the explanation Robert. I was wondering why they would bring out a LWB recumbent when Rans and Easy Racers had already perfected the genre. And Doug, I didn't mean to disparage in any way your efforts to make the Sigma road worthy.

    CRUZBIKE Sigma

One has to wonder why John Tolhurst (I think I remember seeing a video of him promoting the Sigma) would want to add a RWD recumbent to the Cruzbike line? Wouldn't that dilute the brand? FWD, MBB is what sets Cruzbikes apart from all the other the recumbents out there. Why come out with an...

    State of the Cruzbike Nation

At 78 I'm definitely in the 9% group and possibly in the 1% of the very oldest Cruzbikers out there? Cruzbike turned my biking life around. Finding a recumbent that was not only fast and fun to ride but could climb well enough so that I could keep up on the hills with DF riders and far outpace...

Silvio 2.0 Looking as good as new

Nice job Ratz! My introduction to Cruzbikes was a new Silvio 2.0. I had never been on a CB before and sheer determination got me over the learning curve. A decent enough bike but I much prefer the Vendetta that replaced it in my stable.

    Clipless Pedal Recommendations Needed

I have been using SPD's ever since Shimano introduced them. I had Looks on my old road bike once but didn't care for the duck walk in those huge cleats.

Stop paying attention for 4 years and boom

Same here Andrew. 10x2 gives me plenty of gearing for anything I might encounter. 12x1 seems like it lacks the high end gearing I want on my Vendetta. I have 11x1 on my T50 but that's not a speed machine. Electronic shifting? - I don't see it as a much needed improvement. On a group ride...

This question is blasphemous - V20 Seat Angle

I had an S30 for a few years and later on purchased a V20 and I much prefer the V. My S had suspension so the V sits lower and is way comfortable. I'm using stock seat and headrest. I initially thought the 20 deg seat was too radical but discovered that it is perfect. I did add a piece of yoga...

    What’s Your Angle!? Why?

Being a little wobbly initially is pretty common. It took me a few months of Cruzing before I was comfortable riding next to others. It has to do with using your arms to counteract the pedal force. Each time you push with your right foot you give a slight pull with your right arm and vice versa...

    Ideas for Mounting Cyclometer

This has been a problem with other recumbents using wireless computers. The distance is just a bit too far for the wireless signal. I use a Planet Bike Protege 8 wired computer on both my Silvio and Vendetta. I bought an extra mount so I can switch it between bikes and it's smaller than a GPS...

    New to me Cruzbike S40

Welcome Paul, I'm sure that with practice you're going to love the Cruzbike. It's a different kind of beast and takes time to tame. Wow! 20 Davis Doubles. That's quite an accomplishment. I'm 77 and have been Cruzbiking for almost 10 years now. I love my V20 for it's comfort and speed and my T50...

I miss Elliot too. I wonder what he's up to now? I remember when they made that video with him at the first gathering of the tribe in Camas, WA.

noticed a Cruzbike home page feature...

The best thing the Parkers did with Cruzbike was to do away with the dual suspension road bikes. Bye bye to the Q559, the Sofrider and it's cousin the Freerider and the various iterations of suspended Silvios. Bye bye to clunky, heavy bikes and hello to swifter, lighter, and better handling bikes.

I pedaled today: Question on foot steering

I have large, pinned flat pedals on my T50 and any kind of shoe works okay. I use SPDs with mt bike shoes on the Silvio and Vendetta.

I pedaled today: Question on foot steering

Terrarium, it just takes awhile to get the hang of riding a Cruzbike. Many have thrown in the towel along the way so kudos to you for sticking out the learning curve. To get back to your original question, no, you do not steer with your feet, at least I never do. Your upper body is key to...
