    Component Selection

I hope that Doug's thumb bar end shifter experiment works out well. Aren't Thumbies quite a bit cheaper that brifters? ;) :) EDIT Though you also have to factor in the extra cost of the brake levers as well as the thumbies, of course!

    Short cranks

Mike Burrows, the well known bike designer, is a big fan of short cranks. :) He suggested that I should fit 155s when he test rode my Sofrider.

    Thumbies for Silvio

What a great idea Doug. That looks brilliant. :) Please post another picture and your riding (shifting?) impressions when you've got the bar tape on and ridden a few miles. Which Bacchetta Tweener bars did you use? 18.75 or 22 inches wide?

DECISIONS, DECISIONS, WHICH DONOR TO CHOOSE!!!!

Vegaspaddy If you buy a Sofrider or Freerider from Cruzbike then you are covered by their "29-mile smile" guarantee. This is how it works From the FAQs section of the web site What if I buy one and I don't like it? Can I send it back? Yes. You can rely on our "29-mile smile" guarantee, if you...

    New Bag Install (and computer...)

Mark would be far too modest to post a link to his own thread about a homebrew computer mount so here it is just in case you haven't already found it. ;) :)

    Rack vs. Bag

It is stopping the bags swinging into the rear wheel that is bothering me. Maybe some aluminium tubing loops attached to the holes in the Silvio's seat for the bottle cages would stop the bags moving around. Then a hydration system rather than standard bottles would work.

    Rack vs. Bag

You know, I'm starting to wonder whether the Radical Design Solo Racer bags are the best option? When I look at the picture of them on Bent Up Cycles web site, I realised that on a machine such as the M5 Low Racer pictured below, the rear forks nicely hold them apart. There is no chance of them...

    Rack vs. Bag

Mark Unlike yourself, I don't have the benefit of seeing Jack's Silvio up close. My opinion regarding the bag's width (which BTW Hotdog concurs with) is based purely on the photos that were posted. Another point that I notice from the photos is that Jack has fitted the bags over the aluminium...

    Rack vs. Bag

Defjack could only find the Radical Design Solo Racer Wide bags at Bent Up Cycles. IMHO that's why he has had to hitch the bags up higher with a bolt through the top of the seat. I believe that the standard width bags would sit much higher without needing that bolt. If you read further down...

    Bike Rack Photos

John T says that in his rack he has the Silvio's front wheel folded back. Perhaps he would post a picture? ;) :)

    Under seat bags

Jon. You must have a really heavy laptop that you are so worried about keeping your centre of gravity low. ;) :)

    Under seat bags

Jon. Here is a suggestion. ;) I found an interesting laptop bag for sale on a website here in the UK (scroll down to the bottom of the web page). It doesn't say who makes the bag. As you can see, the bag hooks over the top of the seat. Would that save you a lot of work making up a pannier...
