    New S 40 build

Beautiful bike! I personally don't think it's possible to ride any front wheel drive MBB bike up a steep 10+% gravel road with a loose surface unless there was sufficiently high momentum while approaching it. Lowering the tire pressure and maintaining a smooth pedalling cadence may help, but...

Silvio S40 is one sweet bike

The lowest part of the seat looks further backwards compared to V20(I wonder why). Did you experience wheel slip on steep climbs? Is it a better climber than your V20? How much slower on a flat section is it compared to your V20? I hope you get to record a video one day.

This is a great write up! Looks like you adapted to the seat and no more recumbent butt problem? Nice bike!

    Chainring crash damage

Sorry, I had not noticed the Ultegra's unique bolt design. I wonder if a standard chainring can be used as a replacement on the the same Ultegra spider? Then it will allow you to use the driveline chainring guard. Alternatively, if your bottom bracket shell allows it, may be a different...

    Need help on tire-wheel match

Hi, my understanding is that the rim is usually slightly narrower than the tire width. This allows the tire bead to "bite" onto the rim. Some rims are wider for the same tire size and this affects the height of the tire. A narrower rim will cause the tire to buldge out a little more while a...

    better climber?

In know this is slightly out of topic, but (in my opinion) your head should be in it's most natural forward facing position (maybe even slightly downward). It should not be facing the sky because it will force you to look through the reading portion of your glasses. My headrest just...

    better climber?

I use Eken H9. I wanted an H9R (R stands for remote) but I made mistake during my order. But they are the same apart from the included wrist remote control(and firmware). It's great value for hobby/armature video capture and way cheaper than a Gopro. I got it from ebay for about $60...

    Chainring crash damage

Yes, 52T goes with a 52T chainguard, similarly a 53T will need a a 53T chainguard. But I found out that a 52T can also fit my 50T chain ring quite fine. Therefore on my 50T chairing (a shimano Sora triple), I used a driveline 52T chainguard. The driveline brand I shared above comes with a set...

    better climber?

You have a very nice lightweight DIY Carbon MBB! Now all you need is a nice Eken H9R or any other Gopro-like camera mounted on your helmet, then you can catch and share some action from your rides. Just look for a few DFs and see if you can keep up and overtake them on a climb.

How to Humiliate a group of carbon DFs Singlehanded!!

Action cameras have a wide angle lense which can give the wrong impression. His bars look like standard 42 or 44cm df drop bars. He states elsewhere that it weighs about 11kg.

How to Humiliate a group of carbon DFs Singlehanded!!

It's not purely carbon but has steel and aluminum parts joined and wrapped in carbon. The one he rides in this video has a more straight, thicker carbon wrapped boom like a V or Silvio. Somewhere in the Italian recumbent forums he States it's about 11kg. He is also a fairly tall guy hence the...

How to Humiliate a group of carbon DFs Singlehanded!!

I don't think one can generate that much power uphill on narrower bars. Even LarryOz was using wider bars for RAAM.

How to Humiliate a group of carbon DFs Singlehanded!!

This guy is just amazing!! Nail biting stuff! Watch and be impressed! B.t..w it's a carbon DIY MBB recumbent, similar seat angles to a Silvio but a much lower bottom bracket, which explains the climbing. He explains somewhere else. Its about 11Kg This is a picture of an older version. He...

    better climber?

These guys (Marco Ruga and friend) with Carbon DIY MBB in Italy seem to be climbing upto 16% grades quite fine! check the video at about 3:21. His DIY has a much lower BB and the seat looks more upright like a Silvio.

    Chainring crash damage

I think all Short Wheel Base recumbents and trikes should have a chainring guard installed to protect both the chainring itself and other humans. They are easily available on ebay. I got one for my DIY recumbent.

Nice S30 with panniers Video - One Handed!

It's a lowrider front bicycle rack mounted on the Silvio rear wheel facing backwards. (Probably the same idea should also work with a Vendetta.) He has some pictures on his facebook page:

Nice S30 with panniers Video - One Handed!

Yes, the right arm is disabled and is supported on a special brace attached to the bike. Look carefully and you will notice. A man with a great determination to learn to ride a cruzbike with one hand!
