Brevet 200 km - Jura - Southern Poland. Question about riding in the rain.

If the temperature wasn't too cold then I would just ride with what I always wear, which are simply tight bottoms and a tight top. If it was cold enough I would add a layer or two, and use a cycling jacket with the sleeves cinched up as well as waterproof long pants with the pant legs also...

S40 in La Crosse, WI (Mainly a FB Repost)

Good work. I find that it is best to start drinking sips of the electrolyte 15 to 20 minutes into a hot ride, before you even feel thirsty. It helps with my cramps but doesn't completely cure them.

S40 in La Crosse, WI (Mainly a FB Repost)

...at 30 miles in.Next time, I'll start at 0 miles in. A couple of points I left off my post: The Race Cage bag was great! I carried my water bladder there, making it super easy to keep drinking. Wrapped around the bladder were a couple of PVA cooling towels, so when I stopped I always could...

S40 - Final Training Ride + random thoughts

...trail/road combo I've really been loving riding with the Race Cage (RC). As I noted in an earlier post, I have been putting a 3.0 liter water bladder in the RC and wrapping it in a cooling towel. I've also put a Velcro loop around the right tube for the headrest and feeding the bite...

    Dragon Ride 2024

...time at the 2nd feed station and decided to skip the next one as I had plenty of food in my bags and basically just needed to refill my water bladder, which could wait for the last station around km 175. Roads over there were mostly in good conditions, with two majors hindrances: sheep who...

S40 - First Swamp Rabbit Trail Ride

...also my first ride using the new Race Cage hanging off the back of the headrest. I was looking forward to trying out my Camelback 3.0L water bladder, and seeing how putting all my little bits of stuff would work out. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with everything. The trail is a mild climb to...

V20 bag and hydration setup for aero long-distance

...on my current racing set-up. I have one on each side of the frame mounted like saddlebags, with the outer straps across the top of the seat pan: I keep tools and spares on one side, and my phone, wallet and supplies on the other. There's a water bladder in the dead space in the race case now.

V20 bag and hydration setup for aero long-distance

I have been kicking around ideas for touring on my V20 as well, and those top tube bags attached to the bottom of the seat with velcro is 1 of the things I have been considering. Your solution Andreas is another really good one to secure them without having to drill holes in the seat. I assume...

    Large capacity aerodynamic tailboxes.

Eating on the bike requires access to the food while riding (obviously). When I'm riding without side panniers, I keep the food in the Moose Pack under the seat and refill that when I stop. For me the Moose Pack is very easy to access with one hand while riding. Another storage place for food...

    2023 6-12-24 WTTC Borrego Springs

Here's my (overdue) race report: Training: I did two double centuries as part of my training. The first was the Best of the Bay DC on Oct 7, and it was a hot one. This ride goes up Mt Diablo, then through inland parts of the Bay Area that get quite hot. I got behind on my hydration, and it...

    Paris-Brest-Paris 2023?

Well done, Andreas! What a beautiful ride. It seems to me like you're switching back to the trike just to make it hard for me to draft off of you. If you didn't see my fb post - or if you did - here's my report on my first 600K. Interested in feedback from the Anciennes on my PBP plan. at the...

    Large capacity aerodynamic tailboxes.

I have a Fidlock bottle too and tried it under the boom on the V20 but I can't sit up with the bottle in situ so I rotated the upper part of the boom 180º to put the bottle at the top Could it be that my initial fit was wrong so I couldn't sit up with Fidlock bottle fitted? It's the 600ml...

    Large capacity aerodynamic tailboxes.

I bought a Brain bag from Bacchetta and it works pretty well. Plenty of room for a 3.5L bladder and room for tools, windbreaker etc. I bent an aluminum bar to support the bottom as others have posted about on here in the past. Stock seat. Attached a fidlock water bottle to the side using a...

    Why drop bars?

Dang! 140lbs? I am almost 180 lol. The V20 would be a great light tourer though. You can put a top tube bag on the boom, the Moose pack under the seat, The boom has a set of water bottle bosses between the bars and headset, plus 2 more water bottles can be put under the seat (or storage...

My Very First Recumbent is a V20

I did 80km with the new bars, brake levers and shifters and the new system seems to be coming around. My CdA was hovering around 0.220-0.230 with the older bars and brifters even though it had been around 0.2. Todays ride with the new system was 0.208. The drop bars were 390mm wide so I had to...

    6-12-24 World Time Trial Championship

2022 6-12-24 World Time Trial Championship race report I’m a relative newbie to ultras. My first race was the 6-hour at the 6-12-24 World Time Trial Championship in Borrego Springs in 2019. I followed that up with the 12-hour in 2021, and the 12-hour at Bike Sebring earlier this year. To...

To V20c as a lifelong DF roadie

Thank you so much for the detailed info! very helpful! i’m looking forward to tinkering with the bike, particularly in ways that allow you to carry things such as food! If I’m going to be racking up a lot more miles, it makes sense to be able to carry a bit more gear. I think I’m gonna take it...

To V20c as a lifelong DF roadie

Well, if you like tinkering then you will have plenty to do on the V20 to customize it. Ventisit thickness, layers of adhesive backed foam padding if you want more comfort or to change your head height, standard or adjustable headrest bars, bottle locations (behind the head, under the boom...

Where do you all carry your water?

2 bottles behind the head in the CB mount seem to be the most aero outside of the Race Case. But as you can see some are either building their own case behind their heads, including me, or using the Thor seat and Radical Design bag combo to put their bladders with bite-down tube in. Bottles...

Where do you all carry your water?

I keep water in a Camelbak bladder in my rear trunk. The hose runs down along the seat and is secured with Velcro. I can carry a couple bottles worth easily. You can also mount bottle cages under the sides of a stock seat, which is what I did when I had a stock seat.
