    Discomfort from seat back

I also agree, need to experiment with the stem Agree with everyone else, your elbows are too bent and far back. It's tricky to balance out the arm position and knee clearance at the same time. I got a cheap adjustable stem from my local secondhand bike parts shop. That let me play with the...

On the Quest front shock bottoming out

Does this work for the blue-white logo Q2? JT or anyone else who knows: The fork on the blue-white shaded logo Quest 2 is different. But will a method like this work for those Quests, too? I'd give it a try if so. Thanks ... Billy K

    559/700cc build...finally ridable

what am I missing? I must be missing something, but why, oh why, did you switch the disk brakes for calipers? Since I first used disk brakes I'll never go back: Rubber brakes are dirty (filthy more like it, spreading gunk all over your pretty wheels, and your hands whenever you have to...

New Cruzbike Quest 3.0 Rider Questions

a couple of more ideas Hi eocbiker - I had exactly the same problems. * For the knee-hitting - I switched out the stem for one with a little steeper angle. First I got an adjustable stem from my local second-hand bike shop for about $4 and experimented with the angles. It raised the bars...

    SRAM DD push rod

Or maybe you can straighten it? I bent mine in the course of trying to put the bike on a riding stand. Before the replacement arrived from Bike Friday (see above), I carefully straightened the rod (soft aluminum) and found it worked well enough. Unless the threads are stripped or the rod's...

    SRAM DD push rod

Bike Friday used to carry these .... else Aaron's I got a replacement from Bike Friday a couple of years ago. At the time they were easily ordered from their web store page, but they're not there now. They do sell the clickbox and cover, so maybe ... It would be worth calling them...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

engaging the whole body is the point! Various people here have commented as Rose City above, that in many/most riding situations, the upper body is relaxed, to the point of being able to easily ride no-hands. And I agree. Certainly in those situations there is no issue of handlebar flex...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

Maybe most important ... Maybe most important is that frame flex is mostly an issue when climbing or accelerating hard. Then I doubt if rocking is enough to counteract pedal steer. At least not for me. BK

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

Rocking as a means to avoid flex? (some doubt) I do the rocking Steve describes as well, and it does take stress from the handlebars, but I think at the expense of ability to apply power. Isn't this the same thing we do when riding no-hands? I do this for miles on end, absorbing...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

THAT is a good idea! (Rich) Rich - THAT is an excellent idea, and easy enough to do. I'm off to a meeting for the next few days, but will try this soon. BK

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

I'm sure John's right, of course, but ... I'm sure John's right, of course, but today I tried holding the brake while pulling the bar and pushing the pedal hard. There was noticeable bend in the handlebar. So while it won't solve the whole problem, I'll work on a beefy replacement bar and hope...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

Really? The steerer extender? Why? Hi Charles - Why do you think it is the extender? That is much beefier than the handlebar, and doesn't have much moment arm. It is _very_ firmly clamped on (after once making an abrupt sharp turn in the middle of a busy street and having the whole...

Diatech headset adjustment Re jphipps question on adjusting the Diatech headset, pasted from Doug Burton's comment in the Quest thread "Is the Quest 2 front shock adjustable" on Sun, 2012-05-06 07:37 (http://cruzbike.com/quest-2-front-shock-adjustable) http://sheldonbrown.com/headsets.html...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

Don't think the the headset can allow frame flex I've had similar problems with getting the right tension on the Diatech headset, but I don't see how that could contribute to the frame flex. Even if the headset itself allowed free rotation, the clamp at its top would still be firmly attached to...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

Make Q steering more like Silvio? Dan's comment above: "a basic design problem that is only resolved by going to Silvio/Vendetta layouts" gave me an idea: Suppose the 2 functions of the pivot clamp at the top of the fork steerer tube were separated: 1. clamping down the conical...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

"if you want to increase a Quest's performance, stiffening the energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick arrangement is where the biggest benefit lies" (Rich in the tea-leaves-II thread on 5/4/14) I've seen several comments in these forums like the one quoted above, suggesting that some fraction...

    reading the tea leaves

how about we all say why WE EACH bought our Cruzbikes? Maybe instead of all this theorizing, we could get some actual data by each saying in a few words what attracted us to our Cruzbikes, what was it that made us put down our hard-earned money for these bikes? OK, for me: I'm a...

do NOT get rid of the Quest I've read this thread with interest, but never having seen, much less ridden, either a Silvio or a Vendetta, I haven't had anything to contribute. But having recently turned past 4000 miles (that'd be well over 6000km) in my Quest 2, I have to disagree vehemently...

Fairing mounts Hi Hamish - Re your fairing, see my post from a couple of months ago in the Quest forum "New homemade fairing for Quest". I have exactly the same situation as you, using the bike to commute daily in all weather, and hating wet shoes. I suspect that my fairing and mounts are...
