    Silvio front-chainstay aero mods?

Here's the story, the way I remember it.... Curious about disc wheels, after having done a lot of online research, I decided to mock-up some cardboard wheel covers for the back wheel. Not for the front wheel: while testing handlebar mounted fairings on motorcycles in the Central California...

    Silvio front-chainstay aero mods?

Yes, of course any aerodynamic aid will be helpful in a 35 to 54mph gale. I like my rear wheel covered anyway. The covered wheel makes me feel more stable on the bike.

    Shim size for Stock Handlebars

Actual shim stock is available... with lots of choice in material, thickness and so on. Search on line for, "shim stock". Beer cans are lined with plastic and are thin, easy to cut, very strong and hold the shape you want pretty well. I'm sure that soda cans are similar, but I'll never know...

    Shim size for Stock Handlebars

Cut your shim stock from an aluminum beverage can. Use your own scissors.

    Silvio front-chainstay aero mods?

One more thing: I don't know about you, but sometimes, while looking at the pedals, I fantasize about how much cooler they would look and how much faster the bike would be if only the soles of my feet were faired. Hey, it's been done! Records have been broken! I could do that too! But it'll...

    Silvio front-chainstay aero mods?

You're not alone. If I owned a Silvio, it would be modded... but I don't. My Sofrider's round tubes have been faired, from time to time, with carved foam and tape. No longer, as it only added a little more free top-speed for a lot of extra ugly. Try rear discs on your rear wheel. That is worth...

    Climbing and Sprinting technical talk

Once you learn to dance with your FWD MBB uphill, you'll understand. Meanwhile, here's an anecdote: I was riding with a small group of local bicyclists and one of them was on a blinged-out Bacchetta on 700c wheels. No, I can't remember exactly what model, sorry. The rider was seated in a hard...

There is a Downside to Vendetta

That's one of my jobs: "Pool Boy." If I hired a pool boy to do my Pool Boy job, the hireling would be the 'Pool Boy's-Pool Boy.' That would never do.

There is a Downside to Vendetta

Seductively quick single-track vehicles have a hold on me. For now, my drug of choice is the V. It's been raining recently, so I've been attending to some neglected chores. Chores like pool maintenance. How come the pool water was crystal clear a week or so ago.... Now it looks like I need to...

First Impressions of the Big Yellow Vendetta V1.5

The rain ended before noon and the Sun dried the streets in time to get a short ride in, before school busses and SUV driving helicopter parents took over the roads. Is my bike bright enough? Can you see it? The wheel covers I made for the V give me some free speed. Not as much as they did...

My Neck Rest is better than Yours.

Here's a blurry photo showing where the extra length, the extra volume ended up being stored. If you look closely you can sort of see the black electrical tape reinforcing the glued, folded ends of the tube. The stock Cruzbike seat back cushion rests on top. And, if you look closely, you may see...

    New Cruzbike.com launching soon

The comparison chart, in my experience, falsely claims on line 13 that only on Cruzbikes do, "Legs contribute to steering & stability." My legs were helping me steer and stabilise everything on two wheels I've ever ridden. Try a track-stand on your D.F., for example, with your feet off of the...

How long to learn to ride?

Yes. No. Probably. Read all about how to ride your Cruzbike in this forum. Watch the videos on Youtube. Go test ride. Reread everything you read before you went riding. Repeat. I got my bike delivered, I set it up and then learned to ride it in the street. Fear of deep ditches, trees, rocks...

    New V20 build input

Wheels? These are bicycles, ladies and gentlemen: Two wheelers. My used V is on stock Cruzbike 'aero 67' wheels. As far as I know, this bike has been used hard and has gone down hard at least twice in it's life. The Cruzbike wheels spin very, very freely. The bearings are in great shape. There...

My Neck Rest is better than Yours.

You made me curious, so I bought a fresh patch kit which came with a fresh tube of glue. Fresh patches are nice and some of my patches dated back to the middle of the last decade. Anyway, I missed the cushy volume of the tube you see in pictures at the top of this thread, so I cut another tube...

    Elevated Seat ??

Congratulations! One way to sit more upright is make a foam wedge to decrease the angle of your seat back. I've worked with closed cell high density foam, carving them into custom-fitted seats for my kayaks. You can find blocks of this foam in R.E.I. and other paddles ports stores. It is...

    getting boom length fit correct

Yes! A reclined seat certainly does open up your adjustment choice on the fly, while you're riding. My Sofrider has two custom seats: One is reclined at 30 degrees and one is reclined at 18 degrees. The 18 degree seat, the final configuration, has the seat pan an inch lower and about an inch...

    getting boom length fit correct

Totally understand! Yes I do. I started off on the Sofrider with the boom pretty short and, over time, extended the boom. I rode it with the boom over extended a bit and my knees told me to shorten it, where it's been for years now. Literally, years. On the v 1.5, I adjusted the boom to match...
