    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Bottom line bents are more fiddle for sure. But that’s fun for some. The ho hum simplicity of a safety df frame can’t be beat . The s40 is a fine example of what bents can be. Just need to sell more of em. Magic. Development. The s40 is possibly more of a fiddle to work on but it’s build...

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Yeah I get recumbutt on standard 2005 challenge hurricane but it’s aluminium seat is not flat. Its ergonomically contoured for spine and has a central channel. Also holed for a little weight saving. You are right about stiff. The whole bike is stiff but it’s also relatively heavy. I think...

Schwalbe Marathon tires don't quite fit on Silvio

I always like to look at www.bicyclerollingresistance.com I have been surprised many many times for example a standard 406 marathon is faster than a marathon racer. Who’d a thunk it. Also a Kojak is not a fast tyre at all......barely faster than a marathon and actively seeks out puncture...

    S40 slider

I developed over time incremental movement. It was related to my dry quick release at wheel . So I lubed and also under the clamp I Used a layer of electrical tape. Or as slim suggested a piece of wet and dry would work well. ( auto motive sand paper )

Recumbent butt better with Thor seat?

Five bents. The more upright I am it’s recumbent butt time. V20 zero. Two mesh seats three hard shell. Therefore I conclude. More weight on butt is issue . To solve spread weight evenly with better seat so maybe Thor might suit or extra pad. Every backside is unique. You could go whole hog...

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Ouch David wouldn’t fancy four 17 hour days on that. Even the original cruzbike headrest cover can get scratchy on the neck after few days in a row. I use arm warmers over the headrest.

    bikist dog

I count myself extremely fortunate. My mum insisted on Australia not South Africa as my dad wanted. Emigrated in 1968 so I count myself an Aussie. Till I moved to lemontree passage from Newcastle I’d never seen koalas in the wild. Now they run through my front yard literally.

An S40 in China. Loving the bike :)

Yes the kayaking is a good analogy of cruzbike control. Any new videos of your Chinese escapades will be greatly appreciated . Great to see how others deal with the human condition in other countries and cultures. I was pleasantly surprised to see bright clean sunshine. Preconceived ideas of...

V20 Vendetta Gear setting and uphill

Yes 52/34 chainrings it was Shimano Ultegra mechanical groupset 6800 series 11 speed 110 bcd so easy change.it was originally 52/36. And it was perfectly fine changed just as well but I’ve always let off for any gear change front or rear. Then .......the lure to try shorter crankarms won out ...

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Ouch. I’ve had saddle sores. Wouldn’t wish them on anyone. Two weeks off the bike and .......well I won’t say. Saddle selection is fraught. You’re pretty slim rojo so I reckon the adamo might be too wide it was for me even with the fingers pulled together with electrical tie. 32” waist and I...

V20 Vendetta Gear setting and uphill

    I run a 52/36-34 and 11- 32-36 I also run 53/39 and 11-25- 40 The low 1-1 ratios 39-40 is difficult to stay on form.......especially carrying a load or when fatigued.
