Newbie S40 owner here in Hawarden, UK

Well I took the plunge today and took the S4o on my regular 32 mile ride... Two laps of a fairly flat loop (only one bridge to navigate on each lap) and knocked a full 8 minutes off my best ever time on the Bacchetta. I'm sure that once I get totally comfortable with the bike that time will be...

    Hydration while riding the V20

Yeah, sticking a bladder in the Brain Bag (or other brand) behind the head is definitely a good option. I don't mind the water bottles behind the head much at all. Getting them out and putting them in is simple enough while riding, and the 1.5L I can carry in them will get me a pretty far way. I...

    Hydration while riding the V20

There is a photo of my setup in my thread. I am using brain bag (5-600g) with 1.5L bladder and lanyard clip. I can fit much more than the bladder in the brain bag, so it is overkill if just to hold a bladder. Took a bit of getting used do to drink out of the tube, but I have it covered now and...

    Hydration while riding the V20

I am using two 750ml water bottles, and it appears that my 750ml bottles are 80g each, and I would guess that the cages are probably about 25g each. Add the 4 stainless bolts and nuts at about 20g for a total of about 230g. However, the Osprey 2.5L bladder is 168g and the Dueter bag is 390g for...

    Tubes or tubeless

I am glad to see that I am not the only rider weighing down my bike with all the extra stuff. I have S40, which is heavier to begin with. I have disc brakes, front and rear cameras, computer, little bag with tools/tube/snack, portable charger... around 35 lb. before adding bottled water!! It...

    Tubes or tubeless

Before the brain bag it was 12kg without a water bottle (with my light wheels and Di2 and moose pack full of emergency spares). Stock wheels were probably about 500gm heavier. Brain bag with bracket another 700gm. 1.5L of water in bladder gets very close to a ride weight of 15kg. Helps me go...

    Race case

I no longer use the race case for water bottles for that reason. I've launched too many. I know some people have had success with adding tape to their bottles for increased friction. Now I either use the bladder/hose technique or take a rest stop & get a bottle out of my bag.

    Hydration while riding the V20

bill just do a forum search on “ hydration”. Heaps of info. I use a bladder with either a retractable lanyard from office works etc or magnetic coupler.

    Hydration while riding the V20

I'm a relatively new V20 rider (~640 miles so far). I've got a Race Case on the back and a water bottle bracket under the seat but I'm nowhere near coordinated enough (yet?) to access those while riding. I tried removing the rubber retaining bits from the Race Case and put a hydration pack...

Suggested Thru axle Option for V20, S30, Q45, to stop chain stay and fork separation.

That is what I do on the V20. I have a bolted CF sheet platform that comes off the adjustable Perez Clamp tubes/headrest. Just like you, I have two aero bottles either side with 5/16" ID vinyl tube and right-angle water valve bite fittings. Those are secondary bottles for rides over 100 miles...

My Very First Recumbent is a V20

I planned on doing about 100km today but after about 35-40km my headrest fell off. I backtracked to pick it up and even found both screws. As you can see, I glued it back on after it fell off the first time. I stopped the ride and went to the DIY store to see if I could come up with...

Bag for carrying camelbak water bladder?

Hello again everyone, any recommendations for a small, aero (behind the headrest) bag that can carry a water bladder that I can run to my shoulder, and some ideas on builds? I'd also like a small amount of room for my wallet, keys, and a couple of tools. Thanks!

...perhaps and 25 mm probably helps) but my chain flew off and I broke some heavy zip ties that were holding up my homemade head fairing/water bladder behind the headrest so it fell down onto the back wheel. I was thirty miles out on a 70 mile ride. Luckily I was able to fix it with parachord I...

    Large Panniers recommendations?

FYI, I believe the stats listed above are for a single Vaude Aqua Back pannier, rather than a pair of bags. Capt_mc, do you have a sense of how big of big bags you're looking for? The largest panniers I'm aware of for recumbents will be bags made specifically for recumbents. For example...

Thanks for the tip. I will go online and check them out. Have you been touring on your Q45?

    Large Panniers recommendations?

I am using Vaude Aqua Back. According to manufacturer's info: Weight: 970 g Volume: 24 l Dimensions: 37 x 33 x 19 cm Max. load weight: 12 kg Very good quality and water proof. Except that the inside pocket for water bladder broke at the hems after some months of use.

...guide back to lead/guide the chain mostly for bumpy road surfaces, works fine. We had a fun 75-miler that ended in 95 degree heat. I have improved my pressurized/thermally insulated water bladder so that the water was still cool after that four hour hot ride with no re-loading. Tinkering is fun.

    New race case?

...use on electric scooters that is larger, more weather-tight (still not really waterproof), is easier to get into, more easily holds a water bladder, holds the load lower, doesn't interfere with the optional suspension headrest and, surprisingly, doesn't look too awful. What I'd really like...

Pretty amazing Bill - what kind of speed delta are you seeing with these mods? Do you notice any steering issues when big trucks pass?
