    Chain Skip

Things I'd check (I doubt this is anything new to you): 1) Same number of links in the chain 2) Old chain was worn? 3) Sprocket worn 4) Chain is becoming slack under bumps, which can cause skips or hard efforts. (This is why I use the clutch-versions of the derailleurs)

    S30 disc 'fast' driven-wheel recommendations.

Decided to go with some Flo 45s and build the wheels myself, since, despite this being a treat myself kinda thing, honestly, I'll mostly use these for commuting. I'm curious to hear if this was a wrong decision thanks to the new model coming out, but, well, I have two of the suspended S30, so...

    "The New Silvio is Coming"

    Ah, and perhaps fender mounts.

    "The New Silvio is Coming"

My guess: Mounting for ttrike or cargo rack- there are bosses with horizontal screw holes, near the bottom of the frame, and along the lower chainstay which would either be for a cargo rack or ttrike attachment.

Anyone using a curved slider "upside down"?

I didn't even realize it was upside-down. This is how I have the second S30 setup-- with the curved boom, moving the handlebars 'up'. It makes the bike even *more* comfy!

    S30 disc 'fast' driven-wheel recommendations.

@ratz @LarryOz I expect some opinions from these two-- ratz has suggested my previous wheel choice was suboptimal.. and I've just seen so many pictures of Larry's wheels :)

    S30 disc 'fast' driven-wheel recommendations.

I was looking at the ENVE 7.8 and the Reynolds Aero 65 DB, though I'm not thrilled about the latter's straight-pull spokes (from what I can tell j-bend spokes are just as strong).

    S30 disc 'fast' driven-wheel recommendations.

My last wheel build used Velocity Ailerons with 32h drillings and a powertap hub. It worked fine, but the consensus seems to be that they'd be considered slow. Okdokie-- time to splurge on 'fast'. So, I'm looking for recommendations for an aero wheelset (well, really driven wheel) for someone...

    Seat Mod

I've finally finished mounting my Thor seat. I just drilled through the "ribs", as I did with the Volae seat earlier on the other S30. I use a thin thing of rubber between the front of the seat/bottom of the seat and the frame. The top part of the seat has a shim made from the meltable platic...

    Seat Mod

@Bruce B Cutting a carbon seat can be done, but remember that cutting carbon fiber is a bit like playing with asbestos. You really REALLY don't want to breathe in the results. When I drill carbon fiber, I use a wet pile of paper towels over the work-site to minimize the dust, and I wear a...

    New and Improved Headrest Clamp

So, I drilled a hole in both off-center using a hand-drill, used the same drill to drill out the threads for the set screws, then hammered the rod (with a hammer) through the holes I made (which were intentionally a hair too small). The rod is *very* snugly fit. It isn't going anywhere. The...

T50 - Everyone likes a bike you can kick start

If it can accommodate 2.5" tires on a 26" wheel, it can accommodate a 32mm tires on a 700c wheel (normally these are roughly same diameter). I have no idea if it can accommodate a 2.5" tire, mind you, because I know little about it other than I hope it succeeds!

    Thinking about an S30...

I used the Banana s. Larger would fit fine, and potentially better than the S. Really the thing you need to make sure of is that the bag doesn't rub against the wheel. The height is unlikely to be a problem with any of those bags (the Silvio is high enough to make that a non-issue). If it *was*...

    Riding the Outer Banks, NC

In the middle of summer a couple years ago, there was very little traffic, but sand was covering some of the road. There isn't much traffic in general in places that you must ride ferries to get to. It was very pleasant, and fun. It should be pre-mosquito season still, which means staying in a...

    New and Improved Headrest Clamp

I think they could match your design more closely without spending more money (i.e. by moving the rod to the side instead of at centerline), but that is 100% Cruzbike's decision-- the current design is prettier, and suits the needs of people not mounting other seats to the frame.

    New and Improved Headrest Clamp

Precisely. They actually have pictures of the clamp on the site-- looks just like that (CB pic below), though I'm happy to post pics too. Guide to the pic: The set screw for the rod is on the same axis as the bolt (which, in this picture, would be on the other side). The rod comes in...

    New and Improved Headrest Clamp

I just got my Perez clamps recently, but they're a different design than Jason's original: these new ones have the connecting rod on the centerline of the clamp body, preventing the screw from going through the clamp body, and providing only about 3/8 of threading depth total. I find them very...

    Thinking about an S30...

I used my S30 to go up (tour) the US east coast, from Key West up into Maine. I used Radical Design Banana bags, as well as a under-frame bag (sling pack) for tools/pump. I had the dual waterbottle holder just behind my head, which worked fine for hydration. All in all, I could carry my...
