I can't remove my left bottle due to my shoulder too. Not really a problem, I just swap the bottles over at some point. As everyone says, time, practice and confidence. You'll be wondering what the problem was before you know it.

KICKR Core (gen1 and gen2) works out of the box with the S40 gen5. I recommend swapping trainers with your husband.

I have an S 40 on a Saris trainer. In order to make it fit, I had to remove the disc brake caliper. I just took the caliper off and let it hang. It was easy to reattach.
