How to make your Vendetta as fast as possible

And these... https://crupibmxracing.com/collections/cranks/products/rhythm-expert-cranks?variant=4728624261 They work great as a 2x setup. Standard Shimano 24mm bb, with pinch bolts on the non-driveside arm (which I prefer over the SRAM GPX style). I wouldn't worry much about the 165lb rider...

    S30 Complete (late-model) for sale

Man, that is nice! I already have one, but wow, fresh!

What do we use for bike racks for transportation?

I use the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 for my V20, S30, and two mountain bikes (though not all at once). It works great, and the Transfer looks like it has the same hooked arm design.

Upgrading S40 circa 2019. Need tech advice

Hi @cpml123. When I need to navigate slow-speed stuff, I unclip the foot that I normally put down for a stop, keep the other clipped in, and sit up. I can see well, and while sitting up with one foot out, the bike becomes easily maneuverable in slower, tighter situations, at almost the same...

    S30 for Sale - SOLD

On the question about the stiffness of the leaf spring...I have a S30 as well, and the rear suspension is meant to be only enough to take the edge off of anything you might encounter on the road--driveway lips, minor road surface irregularities, train track crossings, etc. Compared to my V20...

    S40 as a town bike?

Ditto on the Zefal Spy mirrors. I have one on each side and they work well without being in the way.

"I can't believe you did all that on a recumbent."

@Frito Bandito Meeting up for a ride would be great! I'm in Northern California, currently hunkering down under a blanket of wildfire smoke. But after fire season is over, it's a nice place to ride. I'd love to be able to say, "when I get back over to Japan..." but that is unlikely.

"I can't believe you did all that on a recumbent."

No, I'm both light and short: 130lbs. soaking wet, and 5'4" on a good day. I suppose that does make me pretty aero. I don't put out a lot of watts, but with riding, I guess many factors are proportional. Actually, I don't ride with any information (other than what Strava tells me afterward)...

@Bill Wightman I appreciate that. As a lightweight, climbing has always been my thing. It's the rest of it that is really work for me.

"I can't believe you did all that on a recumbent."

For me it was lower back issues after 27 years of riding upright. I can relate. The older I get, the stronger my goal to "just keep moving" grows. CB has not only allowed me to keep that goal, but to improve on it; my old 18-19mph upright cruising speed is now 23-24mph. And what used to be...

    New S40 build

I can imagine that supply lines are tricky right now. Shipping the complete S40 as a 1x seems smart. The new rider will have an easier time learning and building strength, while the more ambitious rider can convert to a 2x easily enough (and with a bit more expense).

    New S40 build

I think that the 1x vs. 2x debate comes down partly to the kind of rider you are. A person who tends to take a more leisurely pace and rides to enjoy fresh air and the sights might appreciate the ease and simplicity of a 1x setup. It isn't that cadence doesn't matter on such rides, but it...

    S30 for Sale - SOLD

I put a rack on my S30. It hauls regular panniers quite well.

"I can't believe you did all that on a recumbent."

Yeah, I get a little chatty at the rest stops. Also, it was a hot day, heading for over 100 degrees, and at around mile 80, the clamp holding my two water bottles behind my head broke, reducing me to one bottle under the seat, where I'd have to stop to drink because I couldn't reach it. And...

    New build: S40 2020

The XD driver is for Sram's 10-42 11-speed and 10-50/52 12-speed mtn. bike cassettes. The newer XDR driver is for Sram's 12-speed road cassettes that start with a 10t small cog. Everything else, generally speaking, will most likely use the Shimano cassette body, and start with an 11t or 12t...

    2020 V20 FS On eBay

Have patience with the process. It took me a lot more than 150 miles to get the hang of the V; but once I did, I never looked back. Best bike I've ever owned. Enjoy!

Yes, it is! (was: Or maybe not (was: My Vendetta is a survivor (was: My Vendetta V1.0 is dying)))

The Vendetta fork has not changed since the v.2 came out (except for the spacing being bumped from 130 to 132.5mm to accommodate both 130 and 135mm hubs, but that does not matter here). Short of somebody having a v.1 chainstay lying around, you are more likely to find the fork. I would imagine...
