Maybe mount the bars on the boom tube? Perhaps just a regular headset and a stem and bars mounted to the upper end of the boom tube. Try and keep them as short as possible. It would also allow for a straighter arms. Knee clearance might crop though.

Is the steerer 1 or 2 parts on the Q? I had originally assumed that the fork simply had a two foot steerer. Is this the case? Or is there a rise extender attached to top of the steerer?

Flat bars Flat bars (MTB style) might make a difference. The flex may be more in the Q's bars then the steerer of the fork.

I think you need the bars "on a post".... if your seat angle is "Questish". Optimally, I believe the slider boom must attach to the steerer right at the top of the headset. If it were connected up higher for the clearance to work with the more upright seat, then you would be flexing the steerer...

Do you know if it's possible to fit 26 inch wheel? Are the fork and swing arm the larger size that will accommodate 26 inch wheels? You live not so far away from me. I'm in Chico.
