    Not-a-'Mark B.'-Report

Yeah, passing people uphill is fun, but there is always someone who's faster than you. Like the young guy I passed going uphill last Spring on a long, gentle uphill. He was patching the tube in his rear tire and refused my help, with a smile and a nod of his head. (It's easy to pass someone...

    Not-a-'Mark B.'-Report

On one of my rides last week, I caught up to a pair of very fit DF bike riders after a three-mile chase. The rider with the limber neck kept an eye on my progress, looking over her shoulder now and then. They were averaging 20MPH -Which is a fast average on this stretch of country lane, for a DF...

Survived the virgin ride; it was scary fun!

The Inter-Web is a gold mine of information, but first you need to learn what to search for, right? Here's a pretty good place to start: http://sheldonbrown.com/home.html You're welcome. ;) -Steve

    Is this an age thing?

Is this an age thing? -you asked. Yes and no. Yes, because muscles age and, if you are honest (and actually remember well enough) you'll see that you've slowed down, compared to your younger self. Yes, because my brother in law, a life-long club-level road biker is experiencing the same thing...

Solution required for seat bracket placement challenge

I'd carve a wooden adapter/spacer out of boxwood. Or maple: I'm used to maple. Anyway, that way the steel seat bracket would be seated perfectly in the wood and, the frame tube would be solidly socketed in the wood. But that's just me. An easier solution would be to 'bed' the steel seat...

Confirmed: Mark B is an idiot

Absotively. I just love this thread. Whoever came up with the subject line ("Mark B is an idiot") is a genius! ;) -Steve

The guys I blew by were stunned, this is one crazy bike.

Girls ride recumbents...? Seriously, cool story. :D I got tired of trying different adhesives on the seat trim, and having those adhesives fail. So, I drilled a few holes in the seat pan, adjacent to the problem trim, and lashed the trim to the seat pan. Problem solved. The trim...

    Missing my Silvio...?...

These Cruzbikes are, 'too kool for school' aren't they! ;) Say, you know Mark, I had a thought... you bagged your first Silvio, right? Bag four more and you're an Ace! -Steve

Confirmed: Mark B is an idiot

Of course you feel stupid, Mark: you're human. Seriously, well... more seriouser anyway, I second what 'Hardtailcruiser' said. By the way, check out the T-shirt he's wearing in his icon: coincidence?! -Steve

    Front brake / suspension problem

Jon is onto something! From what you describe, it seems like your "brake" problem is really a clearance problem between your front tyre and the top of your front fork. Your fork is the motorcycle-type, correct? Headstock, triple-trees, down tubes and fork sliders, right? If possible, stiffen...

    Front Disk

Very cool, Rick. ;) This is the future of my bike as well. 8-) Hey, is there any chance that this thread can be pinned? It's kind of important, you know? :!: -Steve

    So which is better?

I think people, who talk about sitting up forward and off of the back rest, do this to make more power for sprints and uphill work. I also think that they have many more miles of experience, on conventional diamond frame bicycles, than I do. I make more power when I lean hard into the back rest...

    Front fairing

Peder Torgersen, a regular poster here, has a Sofrider and uses his Streamer fairing on it in the winter and on longer rainy club rides. He also uses his Streamer on another one of his recumbents. ;) The front-end geometry of the Silvio is not all that different from other recumbents... I have...

    A little exposure...

You were smiling. Having fun in public. In America. On film (film-like media, at any rate). To top it off, you shared your fun with us! Shameless.... :D -Steve
