Rear vs under seat pannier racks?

Maybe. I weigh 130 pounds and my recumbutt on the S40 was bad enough that I sold the bike. I am glad to hear stories of people not having this issue. I wish I was one of them.

    New Cruzbike rider issues

Everything that has been said far is good stuff, and I'll add this: I started with a V20 with a Ventisit pad nine years ago, and remember how much I felt all the road imperfections along the length of my body. At the time, I was so focused on not weaving into traffic, that the chattery ride...

    Car rack solution

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes, the front wheel goes into the cradle and the stabilizing bar clamps down in the crook created by the front tire and the fork crown. It works great for both my V20c and S30, and should for a Q45 as well.

    Ventisit 2cm or 3cm?

A side note about the Ventisit pad: As sweat works its way into the pad, salt and other gunk can accumulate beneath the pad and seat pan. You won't necessarily see this on the top of the pad. I take my pad off a few times a year and take it into the shower with me to soap it down and rinse it...

S40 with the suspension adjustable headrest as a shorter cyclist (and what about the wedge?)

Certain models of Lazer road helmets have the retention adjustment knob on top of the helmet, instead of in the back. I have used them for years for my V20 and S30, with no contact or interference between the helmet and headrest. It could be worth a look.

    Clipless Pedals - Big Difference

Yes. This is one of a few Cruzbike conundrums. Being clipped in when new to these bikes is scary, so we go to flats, which, by comparison, are kind of dangerous and make riding the bike harder. After the worst of the learning curve is over, the new-ish rider tries clipless again, and a big...

    Learning to ride the S40

Hello from Chico, CA! I'm coming in a little late, after a lot of great advice. I have nine years on a V20 and V20c, but I also own an S30, and have owned an S40. * should I expect to get faster on S40? Yes, but it will take time to get your bent legs. I can hold 19-20mph on my Specialized...

    Climbing on the S40

Good advice from @Midnight and @Frito Bandito. When you say you "still suck at climbing," what does "suck" mean? Are you talking more about technique, or about the physical demands of climbing? Those are two slightly different conversations.

    Car rack solution

Same with my Kuat Sherpa 2.0 V20c, S30, mountain, gravel, road, in all combinations. No problem and super stable.

    New Cruzbike rider issues

When I was starting out, years ago, I was gripping the bars so tightly that I pulled a ligament in my right arm. It took seven months to heal. In that time, Robert suggested that I "grip the bars like they were ripe bananas." That changed everything. When I got going again, the lighter touch...

    New Cruzbike rider issues

Agreed. I only truly focus on holding a straight line when I have to, like when a car is passing, or a DF rider is trying to draft off me. Otherwise, I let the bike have its small natural wiggle or shimmy. It is part of learning how to relax, which leads to the feet being integrated into the...

    New Cruzbike rider issues

Just echoing what has already been said... I started out nine years ago with a V20, probably the hardest of the CBs to learn. Everyone's trip through the learning curve is different, but it took me about 1,000 miles and equal doses of patience and stubbornness to get to the point where I didn't...

    Uphill

What Henri said. You are on the learning curve, and it is real. It varies in steepness and length from rider to rider, but the main thing is to be patient with yourself, and to break your practice into repetitions over time as your brain slowly but surely rewires itself for a new way of riding...

Andrews V20C Build 2025 discussion (1st time building bike)

Glad the go-for-a-ride tubeless tire setup suggestion helped. Setting up hydraulic brakes is often a fiddly business, especially if your rotors aren't dead-straight (and they hardly ever are). Patience usually wins in the end. And a light coating of carbon paste should do the trick. I also...

    Request for Vendetta identification/age analysis

That looks like the last of the Vendetta V.2, right before it became the V20 with the red frame and revised front end. My first Cruzbike was a yellow V.2, and like the one you have, I also swapped out the big yellow boom and polished aluminum slider for the updated V20 boom and slider, and...

    S40 Wheels for smaller cyclist

Everyone's experience will be unique to them. However... I too am 5'3" and have ridden a V20/V20c for nine years, an S30 for six years, and an S40 for a couple years, all with 700c wheels. I don't struggle with starts and stops. Granted, the learning curve was steep at first, but once I was...

Andrews V20C Build 2025 discussion (1st time building bike)

It depends a little bit on what brand of sealant you use. I use regular Stans, which basically evaporates over time. I don't clean it out or even pop the tire bead before refilling. If the tire is new, I add about 2.5oz. After that, I add 2oz. I do about three such rounds until the tire...

Andrews V20C Build 2025 discussion (1st time building bike)

That's pretty much how I do it. Use a compressor to seat the bead (pop-pop-pop), add sealant through the valve stem, re-inflate, go for a ride. I have five bikes, all running tubeless tires, and I add sealant every six months, or so. To help keep track of that, I keep a list of dates, new...

Andrews V20C Build 2025 discussion (1st time building bike)

Yikes! Sorry to hear about your tire explosion. My experience with mounting tubeless tires and adding sealant is that it takes a ride to really work the sealant into all those tiny spots where air can leak out. Make sure the bead is all the way set on the rim, pump up the tires to regular...
