machined stainless steel threads generally are prone to seize. Hardware with roll-formed threads are much better, but also more expensive. Applying some disgusting* anti-seize compound helps a lot. Wearing gloves is recommended when playing with this stuff.

ccf, probably you hit the threaded inserts for the water bottle holder. If this is the case you have to shorten the boom. It was the case ion my Silvio 2.1

I'm very satisfied with me current set-up. During winter I installed a 100mm chainstay extension and the DEDA TT bars. My thighs are close to the bar, but I like my arm and hand position. There is an interference between leg and brifter when shifting in the wrong moment, but I got used to it...

Me too, I don't have a problem with the stock seat and neck rest. This spring I added a 100 mm extention and a Crononero TT Bar, and I am very comfortable with this setup.

Apart from being cleaner, I don't see a reason to replace the chain with a belt. Chains have proven to be one of the most efficient transmission elements. Regarding belt tension you could add sort of a spring-loaded idler pulley.
