    Destroyed Silvio

If the bike didn't hit something hard on the road, I don't see how this aluminum part could fail like that. There was maybe a hidden material weakness, micro-crack or something like that. It looks like a twisting force caused the part to fail. A closer look at the broken surface should give more...

    Destroyed Silvio

must have crashed seriously. I had a look at my Silvio 2 frame and it looks quit sturdy at this welded connection.

    Cause for Concern

Same for me. I'm on a very little dose of a betablocker that limits my hearthrate.

    Crest of a Hill

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll try my best. As a 120 year old Cruzbike rider, I'll be assured to be mentioned in the Guinness book of records.

    Crest of a Hill

I'm not a racer. My max. speed was 74 km/h downhill without peddling. Otherwise my speed is limited by the ''motor'' (built year 1945). ;-)

    Crest of a Hill

Currently I have 50-39-30 with an 11-36 casette on my Silvio 2.1 with 165 mm cranks. I was able to climb most hills with the 39 / 36 combination. This winter I'm planning to convert to 50-34 with 150 mm cranks. Will see how this works out.

    Spam problem

it's getting worse. Why not implement CharlesPlager's recommendation. 1) Move to model where new users are approved. At the very least, they need to have a valid email address where they can click on a link that is sent to them.

David, nice write up and beautiful pictures. All to make us jealous. I was traveling around in that region in the past, as I remember its quit hilly. Lucky guy you are.

    Haters going to hate

same for me. After riding a trike I was looking for something faster, but I wasn't sure if a recumbent 2 wheeler would be a risky change at my age (born 1945). Many BROLers encouraged me (others not) to do so. After I hesitated between a Metabike and a Silvio, again I got interesting infos on...

    Experiences Silvio S30 installed a Schlumpf SD/HSD & Rohloff hub ?

Charles, based on your (and Dana's) recommendations I built my Silvio 2.1 with a 30-39-50 with 165mm cranks and 11-36 cassette. By the end of this season I'm going to change it to a 34-50 with 150mm cranks. After 3000 km on my Silvio I'm able to climb most hills in my area with the 39t ring...

    Seat Mod

Nice seat. The lower bend of the seat is quit a bit curbed upward, doesn't this cut into the back of your thighs? I'm questioning this because I'm looking to get this seat for my Silvio.

First Impressions of the Big Yellow Vendetta V1.5

Probably the more inclined seat of the V lets you see over your shoulder. On my Silvio with the 100mm chain stay extension the bullhorns are too low to give me a rear view with mirrors attached to them. Advantages of the RearViz are: - less vibration is transmitted to the mirror - moving your...
