    What does your conversion weigh?

So what does everyone's conversion weigh? I'm considering a Gary Fisher Joshua K4 as a donor, and saw Defjack's comment that his conversion of this bike weighed 39 pounds. Made me realize I have no idea what the range of reasonable weights is for these things. 39 pounds is heavy for what will...

DECISIONS, DECISIONS, WHICH DONOR TO CHOOSE!!!!

My pickiness is your gain! I didn't buy it because the reviews say it's a heavy bike (I couldn't find the weight specs), but there's a 20" Y-26 on ebay right now for $175 (buy it now) + shipping. What with Doug's description, it sounds like the perfect bike for your needs...

Yet another "How about this for a donor?" photo- K2 Evo

Any thoughts on this frame for a conversion for a 6'2" guy? Cross bar too high? Just right? thanks, Randy p.s. Starting thread for "field marks of a good donor bike" so that everyone doesn't get annoyed by people (like me) who ask too many stinkin' questions in the future.

trek y-22 for donor? Picture included

I think drilling into Carbon fiber would be a pretty bad idea, but that's just my gut reaction. But Doug's point about point loading is well taken- finding a way to spread the load may...

trek y-22 for donor? Picture included

Thanks, Doug. i am pretty tall but that's not my bike. I was in the process of getting outbid for it on Ebay when I made the posting. I'm now bidding on a y-33 which has a slightly lower crossbar, I think.

Is this cross bar too high for a conversion? proflex 856

Straight from the horse's mouth as twere! Thanks for the reply, John; I'll keep looking for the right frame (and thanks for not snickering at my name- I have an Australian friend who can't even look me in the eye without giggling if she's in a mood....).

Is this cross bar too high for a conversion? proflex 856

By all accounts this a great old lightweight aluminum MTB frame, but I have two questions for you experienced converters: 1) Is the crossbar too high to do a comfortable conversion? 2) Is my impression that frame size is a much less important consideration for a cruzbike conversion correct...
