    Cruzbike Recommendation

question on BB height differences -- the secret's in the fork Rich, The Q29er is built using a fork substitution from a Freerider/Sofrider. It relaxes the fork angle & raises the BB height by a similar angle as you can see in the photo with both Quests shown below. Both Quests are set up...

    Tires for Clyde's

Clyde's on Silvio v1 I've been running 28 mm Gatorskins on my V1 & have been using them since I built it in 2009. John

    Cruzbike Recommendation

Cruzbike Recommendation: SR, Q451 or Q559 Hi Rich, The Quests are more versatile than the Sofrider, at least in gearing & stopping -- 3 x 9 + disc brakes front & rear. You can add/change these components later on the Sofrider (the front disc is just a bolt on, while you'll have to make/get...

    Wobbly rear end

I've experienced this; but it was due to loosening of the swing arm pivot retaining bolt. I added some blue Loctite (low to mid strength thread locker) & retorqued. The wobbly was gone.

    Quest 1.0 tire size

Quest V1.0 max tire size I've fitted Perfomance Fast City 26 x 1.25 tires to my V1.0 Quest. These leave less than 2mm of clearance to the fork. They're OK commuter tires, but tend to pick up "goat heads" (a local thorn) in the late summer & fall. (See picture below.)

    Silvio Assembly Manual

Silvio Assembly manual -- empty PDF file I also have been unable to download an openable copy of the SilvioAssemblyManual. The error I get is that the PDF is empty -- the actual file size is reported as 20 bytes. I have had no problems opening either the SilvioAssemblyNotes (1.3Mb), the...

New curved nose on older Silvio?

New curved nose on older Silvio I have a V1 Silvio & also ordered a new V1.5 cruved nose Silvio for a customer. I am unaware if the factory will offer this as a retro-fit kit. The differences between the two models are: 1) the fork - the fork legs are now S-cruved & more aerodynamic, but...

    Freerider to softrider

Freerider to Sofrider Contact Maria at the factory (or your local dealer) to order the extension stem. Check the main TFT stem clamp to see if there is an insert. If so, the extension steering tube replaces the insert. If not, you'll need a new TFT stem clamp, also. Then, you'll also need...

Cruzbike in Sacramento, CA Jan 16 & 17

I'll be in the Sacramento area the weekend of Jan 16 & 17 while my wife attends a conference. I plan on bringing a Sofrider V2.1 (& maybe my Silvio, too) to ride. I'm looking for a coupe of things: 1) some nice ride routes in & around Sacramento -- does anyone have recommendations? 2)...

    Air shock management

Re: Air shock problems - solution update !st day of commuting with the renewed Silvio fork. It worked very well -- I'm elated. It was especially reassuring to hear the "whoosh" of exiting air from the boot as I crossed RR tracks. The ride was almost supple, with no bottoming. [I'm running 185...

    Air shock management

Air shock problems, fork binding on return solution I experienced the problem with fork stiction or binding on my Silvio (CBSV-054). Even @ 200 psi, the fork would collapse & not return until I got off the bike. Even then it would take 20 seconds or so to get to full extension. So far, I've...

    Front Shock Question

I tried lubing the shock with the bike upside down and found no difference; the shock was still binding. I would expect this is due to the lower wiper seal on the fork shaft. However, I did come up with a possible solution (it worked for me) which I'll post in the "Air Shock Problems" thread.

Why does my chain keep falling off?

Ed, Check for a bent tooth or two on the chainring (while the chain is off). They should all be in line & not twisted or offset. A straightedge across a group of teeth will give you a good idea if all are straight or not.

    Conversion kit: Two questions!

I ended up rebending the triangular brackets slightly to create greater clearance with parts of the reversed marzocchi fork I didn't want to grind off. This had the added benefit of allowing me to use a 11-34 cassette with no problems. The 10mm gap is easily accommodated with a nylon or UHMW...

    Seat angle

My wife like a more upright seat angle on her Q451, since she's inexperienced. It's set at approx. 60° (57°if I recall correctly.) This gives me glute burn (recumbent butt) in about 20 minutes. However, if I recline the seat to less than 50°, there is no problem.

How wide a TIRE can I run safely?

I've currently got a 26 x 2.3 Kenda K-rads on a Freerider I'm building up for a heavy guy (320#). I had to re-true the front wheel to get the tires centered properly, but no big deal. There's barely enough clearance. If you have high profile knobbies that stick out rather far, you may have to...

    Question on measurements

The highest point of the steering extension tube on the Q559 is 42 3/4". If you wanted to carry the appropriate allen wrench, you could loosen the handlebar riser & slide it down until the top of the handlebars were that height also. Further, I'm 6'2" & have the handlebar riser adjusted to the...

    Question on measurements

    Hi Ed, The Sofrider V2.2 high points are: handlebars: 45 5/8" & seatback: 40 1/2" @ 45° seatback angle. The Quest 559 high points are: handlebars: 45 1/4" & seatback: 38 1/4" @ 46° seatback angle. Just for completeness, the #'s for the Q451 -- handlebars: 43" & seatback 37 5/8" @ 52° seatback...
