    Mark B's S 40 Build

See if Cruzbike will sell you a longer chainstay. It will raise the BB and probably also help with the heel strike.

Should I take clipless pedals off?

Sit up straight when you slow down. Much easier to balance.

    Getting Off the Fence

Try leaving out the last part of the arm, then the mirror will be up higher.

    2019 S40 coming soon!

My concern is the gaps, even if I could get the same gear range I’m not eager to have bigger gaps than I currently have with my 11-32 cassette.

Single chainring is pictured but it still has the FD stalk, so no worries there.

    Help needed, shifting issue

Usually the lower limit screw adjustment prevents this, but I’m sure you’ve tried tweaking that. I’m surprised this is happening while you’re shifting up, the derailleur is moving in the wrong direction, very confusing.

S40 headset keeps getting loose....any suggestions?

Sorry but tightening the clamp on the steerer tube does nothing to align the handlebars.

S40 headset keeps getting loose....any suggestions?

The star nut + cap bolt are just to preload, they should not hold anything together while you’re riding. The bottom part of the boom clamp, where attached to the steerer tube, is what should be holding the headset down. Make sure that’s tightened, and that you have the proper spacers on the...

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

It does look like your problem would be solved by a shorter chainstay. Or a curved slider, or a steerer tube extender. Multiple ways you could go here.

Silvio 2.0 for sale, Boston area

Unfortunately I have moved and the bike is in storage. It’s still for sale but I won’t be able to get it out of storage any time soon.

Silvio 2.0 for sale, Boston area

I am contemplating the sale of my beloved Silvio 2.0, since I am about to relocate internationally and I cannot easily use or store it at my destination. My plan has been to store the bike with family in Massachusetts, but that seems like a waste of a good bike (plus I wouldn't mind upgrading to...

    Zip tie fork/chainstay; maiden voyage

An easy thing to try is scooting a little forward or backward in the seat and seeing if that helps at all.

    Creaking front end

Specifically, between the boom and slider (like you would grease a seat post), and all over the bolts holding them together. In general, any metal on metal interfaces. Overtightening the boom/slider clamp damaged the clamp for me. In the past people saw excessive wear on their BB bearings from...

    Creaking front end

Have you greased everything? Be careful of overtightening, you may introduce new problems that way.

    Hand fatigue

The last time I rode my DF I paid attention to my front wheel's track (which is easy on a DF). Amazingly, it never stays totally straight. It "wobbles" as I pedal, especially going uphill. Doesn't seem like much of a problem, though.

    S40 questions

For one thing, you're not taking into account that arms and legs work as a unit on MBB. This is the reason for the near-unbroken single tube connection from the handlebars to the bottom bracket on the performance models. With your revised design, under power, riders are going to twist the...

Cobb 155mm crank.. should there be play when installed?

FWIW, the instructions for my SRAM Rival crank instructions said to expect play at first (but not to live with it). SRAM's recommended procedure was torque down, check for play; if play is found, remove, retorque, check again. Repeat until no play. I've put Rival cranks on a several times and...
