Gravel Ride - How fat can you go on S40

My S40 has 650b 38mms and mudguards. I had such trouble getting mudguards on the Silvio that I was worried about space, but I now see that I could have fitted 700c 38mms, or wider 650b. Easily. But my S40 works really well on gravel as it is. And it flies on tarmac.

V20 conversion from narrow 700mm wheels to wide 26"

My S40 has 650b 38mms Gravel King. Loads of places seem to sell tubes that are too wide to go in. Fat, for MTB. After a lot of searching I found Specialized. These are the only ones that fit. No hydro brake levers are compatible with my peculiar handlebars, therefore I have Hy/Rd, which...

V20 conversion from narrow 700mm wheels to wide 26"

I had a terrible time failing to fit tubeless. Really not fun. For some reason I could not find tubes that fit the tyres. That was the only reason I was attempting tubeless. Then I finally found a source of tubes. What a relief that was.

    Ankle Pain Advice

The problem with drop bars is that the handlebar clamp has to be way behind your hands. When I first got the Silvio the clamp was pinning me down like the harness on a rollercoaster. After lots of experimenting I got Crononero with the ends sticking up. The hand position is similar to drop...

    working with the chain

Cruzbike does not need masterlink. Remove the wheel and unscrew the tensioner and slide the chain out without breaking it. But you have to be very clever to put it back without getting in a frightful twist.

S40 Enroute: Did I choose right?

Excellent idea. Escape the tyranny of the awful double clangers. So last millennium.

    The Cruzeum -- is Opem

I find it difficult to look at those pictures. All that work is traumatic. Larry is amazing. I just wish the Cruzeum could have had my Silvio.

At it for a month. Things they should have told me (these aren’t gripes)

If you want to hang onto something at a red light, what about the car next to you? Then it is easy to get away from a standing start.

Headrest on S40 … yes or no?

When I bought the S40 I forgot the optional headrest, but then found that it was not necessary. It would have been a waste of money. I needed the headrest on the Silvio. Does the S40 have a steeper seat than the Silvio?

Working my way back (third time is the charm)

Welcome back @ratz. Covid, business and heart. Cannot fix any of that with a rubber mallet.

Has anyone upgraded from a Freestyle to an S40 or V20?

I am in the pedestrian places all the time on my S40, doing the very tight zigzags. My favourite dance. I used to do it on the Silvio. I thought the Silvio was good at this, but the S40 is even better. I cannot remember which of these is longer. Maybe it is due to having 650b.

Is a V20c suitable for my planned use?

Carry your corgi on your V20. Shame it is too late to sell the idea to the Queen.

    Max Tyre width on S40

Does 640b x 42 accommodate mudguards? The bike must be tilted down slightly. What effect does this have on the handling?

    My Beloved S30 was Stolen!

Scum bastards! What a horrible thing. My comiserations and condolences. They probably sold the bits and dumped the frame. I hope you find another one.

New Guy - lots of questions

Short stays: B bracket will be low and bars will be high. Long stays: High BB and low bars. Lower BB means more power. Something to do with blood circulation I think. Low bars is more aero than high. High bars means more space between the bars and the sternum. This makes it easier to get...

Recumbent "Off-saddle" aka Bridging Plank: More power to ya!

I was never comfortable doing this, but I did not like standing on the pedals on a DF. On the Grasshopper I push my back into the seat. On the S40 I lean forward. This allows the bike to tilt back and forward. A rumble strip appears in one of the @ak-tux videos. There are some in the UK but...

    New member T 50

@Tuloose is right. Most Cruzbikes are ridden by people who thought Cruzbikes were dangerous. Who is the one who knows how to ride it the first time they see it? Why did we all persist? @Libraman is in the process of finding out.

    V20c underframe storage box prototype

More here. Those of a nervous disposition are likely to get PTSD from this ugly unsophisticated kludge. Look away now. The thieves can have it. They did me a service. S40 has the official rack. S40 is a better bike. I just wish I had thought of selling the Silvio.
