2008 Silvo

Hi Diana, I'm new to this site and hoping the questions was directed to me and my Silvio that is for sale. If not, my apologies. If your question is to me, yes, the bike is still available (just posted last night 8/28) and I do still like the front wheel drive. My problem with the bike is that I have arthritis in my elbows and riding the Silvio has caused me problems in that area. Otherwise I simply love this bike. Wish I did not have to part with it. It's very response, feels like a sports car on rollers and is simply very fun. I miss riding it.

Well, I don't have arthritis

Well, I don't have arthritis in my elbows, but I do have a bad back, surgery L5/S1. My concern is my neck and it's bulging discs. I recently got a neurostimulator put in my neck and worry about the angle of the seat. It looks like it's more upright than most recumbents. My burley is really upright and I have a custom neck rest. What do you think? I can't find any good information about seat angles and the spine. I live in IL. Darn, I have a bicycle-crazy kid that just left Portland and is in Omaha right now. He could have checked it out for me.

Good for backs

I found the silvio to be really, really comfortable on my back and neck. That's the reason I switched from a traditional bike to a recumbent in the first place. The silvio has great lumbar support and I never felt any discomfort in my neck. I know some people like to get a head support for their reclined recumbents but I don't think the silvio reclines enough for this. I ride 100 miles at a time and never felt discomfort in my neck ... elbows yes, neck, no! Hope this helps.

How many miles does it have

How many miles does it have on it? What part of IL do you live in? Any pictures? I am considering pulling the trigger and buying a Silvio. Thanks

Bend, Oregon

Hi Diana,

I live in Bend, Oregon not IL. The bike has about 2000 miles on it. It's in great shape. I have one ding on the left handle bar from falling over while I was learning how to unclip from my pedals. I was stopping at a stop sign and just went over. It was very embarrassing!! Anyway, other than that, it's in near perfect shape and is a wonderful bike. If I could have resolved my elbow issue, it would not be for sale.

I have one photo of the bike. My computer died last Christmas and I lost all photos except those I had saved to disk. I can certainly take more. Do you have an email address I can send the picture to. This program does not seem to have an attachment link that I can attach a photo to.

2008 Silvio

Hi ... somehow I missed this message but got your second one. I did just send a photo. It's the only one I have but I can send more if you want. Just let me know and I'll take some photos and send them off.

I can ship but you'd be responsible for the shipping fees. My Silvio cost me about $3500.00, and selling for $1800 is a good deal for whomever ends up buying. So I cannot absorb the shipping fees but am happy to ship it to you

Thanks,

Leslie

Thanks!

Hi Andrew,

Thanks! It is a beautiful bike and has been a lot of fun. It may have just sold and though I'm glad, I'll be sad to see it go :-(
