Great write up Tor - I will have to say it was fun reading your account - and I will have to say, your English is extraordinary! Much better than mine unfortunately!
If you ever get over to the US, look me us and we can go riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway. :)

Can you pull the bidon from behind your neck or stop to hydrate.

Great pics well told. Thanks for sharing. Shame you were solo.

Looks like great weather.

Thank you, Larry, those are really kind words! It would be a real honor to come riding with you. I am planning a trip to the US in November, but unfortunately, that's on the other side of the country.

Thank you, ak-tux and jond also. I can grab the bidon easily enough. Putting it back is a bit of a hassle, and I end up drinking too infrequently. Perhaps it would help a little to position it more upright. However, you can also see that I keep a bidon in the mesh pocket of my Banana Racers. That one is much easier to handle. But only when I actually take the Banana Racers with me, of course. For shorter rides, I think I would prefer under-the-seat bidon cages. Or maybe under the boom. I haven't tried that yet.
