larry thoroughly enjoyed the video. what everyone else said my brother is so true. hanging onto the rocket with his lighter faster accelerating bike was just awesome. i was squirming every time you rode around a corner crossing paint lines and gravel. you won in the toughest conditions and it deserves becoming the legend of the biggest fish my friend. congratulations on such a tenacious effort . dont know how you handle those bars. the constant spray in your face must have been so difficult not to mention being rain and sweat soaked for 12 hours. lots of sunshine for your next challenge i pray. thanks for sharing so modestly something so great. champion oz.
Thank Jon - I was a real "nail-bitter" of a race. And I can honestly say I was sure praying "a awfully lot that day"!
I think in all of the "victories" that all of us have (learning to ride Cruzbike, first Century, besting a DF up a hill, sprinting for the city limit sign, etc), there is also an element of "luck' involved.
Luck that we didn't flat, or slide out around the wet corner, or have someone crash in front of us, or get run over by an angry driver or a distracted driver.
I've seen many quotes on luck, like:
"The harder I work, the luckier I get",
"I a great beleiver in kuck, and I find that the harder I work, the more I have of it" (Thomas Jefferson - some famous guy from American history.
), or my favorite:
"
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity".
I am so "lucky" to be surrounded by this great group of cyclists and encouragers.
- I always feel like a winner, even if I flat and crash (Is that "bad luck", or just an opportunity for someone else who prepared? i.e. Sebring 2016) -
It's all good stuff!
p.s. Hey - I'm thinking about doing Lake Taupo this year - so .... who knows - we might get to ride together this year.... (I just need to work out about 1000 details....)
