What is it?

The 2022 Cruzbike Century Challenge Series is a 19-week cycling challenge that was created and will be administered by Larry Oslund. It is officially approved by Cruzbike.

Week #1 will begin on Monday April 18th - and the challenge lasts through Sunday Sept 4th.

- The ultimate goal of this series is to get you to ride a complete Century - hopefully your first or possibly the fastest Century of your life. The format is 19 weekly rides: The first weekly ride will be 10 miles in length and will increase by 5 miles each week until you will ride a 100 mile TT. The challenge includes you first picking a final goal time for your Century and training and working towards that goal during the challenge window. This is a solo challenge so no drafting or riding with others please.

At the beginning you pick a realistic goal for yourself and then work towards it by training and riding 5 miles more each week.

I will provide some weekly training workouts, tips and general guidelines for you to help you maximize your time on the bike. This will be the plan and workouts that I will be doing myself.

A quick reminder for the start of the 2022 Cruzbike Century Challenge
The 1st weekly mileage of 10-miles starts tomorrow (Apr 18) and you have 2 full weeks to complete this distance:
So far we have a great group of 17 - but would love more!!
...
Here is a brief description of the challenge:
This year's challenge is a Century challenge and will happen between April 18 - Sept 6.
..
The format is to ride a complete Century at an initial "goal" time by the end of the 20 weeks.
  • You pick your final time of your century by the end and shoot to meet that average speed on each week's ride.
  • Week #1 mileage will start at 10-miles and increase by 5-miles each week until you read 100 miles by the end.
  • Each weekly mileage will have a 2-week window to ride that mileage by. Week #1 starts Apr 18 - end May 1
  • You can ride anywhere you want - no course is required to be pre-identified
  • Only moving time is looked at, so you can even stop for breaks or traffic and not have it count against you.
  • To help with vacations and absences, you can also pre-ride the next week's mileage anytime after you ride the previous mileage.
  • You can also start any time, your first distance will just depend on what week you join.

Hope to see you this year in the challenge

Here are the Stats thru the 25-mile ride
We welcome a new rider: Derek MInner

25 of us were able to get their 25-mile ride in:
In the points race we still have a 3 way tie with Jim, Larry and Tor - who have matched their speed goal for the 1st 4 rides now.
A total of 5 of us matched our goal speed exactly for the 25-mile ride: great job!

Everyone is doing great and I enjoy watching your progress as your share it with me

Shout out to Mel & Joe who sent me a couple of great pics!
p.s. Joe has already completed his 45-mile ride - so he can take 4 weeks off now! Great job Joe!
