I’m selling my S40 because I am not riding it. I bought this last year after some serious back surgery. I was able to ride it without too much difficulty but age has hit me hard. I’m 75 and have lost the strength in my legs that allowed me to enjoy riding. Before surgery this caused me to stop riding with my club because I was dropped on every ride. After surgery, on the S40, I was only able to get in a few miles before the hills killed me, and the routes I have in and around DC all have hills. I rode all last summer but never regained the fitness I needed to enjoy riding.
The bike has about 500 miles on it and is in near mint condition. There are a few small scratches on the frame, see photos, and I swapped out the pedals for Catalyst pedals from Peddling Innovations. I have a rear rack and headrest (not pictured) which I’ll include with the bike. Otherwise, the bike is 100% stock.
I’m asking $3000 for the bike, which was ~$5000 new. I’m willing to sell at this price to let it go quickly. It’s essentially a new S40 at 40% off. If you can’t pick up in Wash DC, packing and shipping will be done by Larry at Mt Airy Bikes, where I bought it. He estimates packing and shipping at ~$200, which could be higher or lower depending on your location.
