559 for my Q451

In the search for speed I up-graded my Q451 with a set of custom build (by me) wheels. Circus Monkey hubs (e-bay) and Sapim Laser spokes, with 28mm Conti GP tyres on Sun sr18 rims. The total weight of my wheels is about 100gram less than the stock 451 wheels :) It rides nice and is faster

What I also changed is the shock. I wanted something more advanced and tried out an old shock of 150mm. Much longer (+20mm) than stock, but with some damping and with a 650lbs/inch spring. (I weigh 62kg) I'd expected the handling to get twitchy, due to the steeper head tube angle, but it actually works. That could also be because of the bigger wheels....

What I don't like is the more upright seat position and that my feet are lower. So I will try to find a 125mm shock to replace to ks291. Kindshock has some nice stuff on offer, but it's hard to get my hands on it. If I don't succeed, I'll put the original back in place. Their A-Two would be nice for me.

I put back the stock shock to

I put back the stock shock to achieve to more reclined position again. I like it better like that. The handling still is good. So the improvement in handling I felt is due to the larger wheels.

Still, I'll try to get me a little light airshock

And, Ive put the stock handlebars on it for the 1st time. I reccon it's more aero and has an advantage in tight corners over 'my' u bars. And it saves me 100 grams.

Looks good Peter, you can

Looks good Peter, you can invert that stock handlebar so it's droops down, and it gets your hands a little lower so you can feel more tied into the power.

tailbox

And to make it eve more a long distance machine, I've taken the tailbox from another 'bent, made it fit and bolted it to the seatpost rack. It gives about 7% in speed advantage. Dispite my cold, and thank to a tailwind I easily pushed my up-graded Q past 50kph for a few hundred meters. (flat road, no hills here) Hurray for Coroplast!
