Hi everyone. Just a quick shout out of thanks to everyone for their insight, course intel, and support. Some responsive observations on earlier intel: The course is NOT bumpy or difficult, especially after what I usually experience on some of the country roads here in NC. There was a traffic monitor at the one stop sign on the long course and 3-5 monitors on the final turn on the short course. Only once did I ease up to adjust to on the road traffic at the long loop stop sign. Very pleased with my race, esp. because of a major distraction in the prior week that knocked me off the training plan.

My Silvio performed flawlessly. Rode 25 mm tubeless with 85 # pressure. Cliff was a thrill to watch go fast--he has many great races and records ahead of him.

The course is NOT bumpy

They did a lot of road surface improvements between my recon mission down there on Sep 14 and race day. They patched up all of the spiderweb cracks and potholes north of Christmas Circle, and they added a new layer of chip seal to the big S-curve on the southeast section of the big loop. Definitely a big improvement. As a result, I ran my tires at 75 psi instead of the 60 psi I was planning after the September recon.

...Uh oh. You are giving away speed secrets. Actually last time I rode a group ride with 85 psi in the 25 mm tires, I got a pinch flat and was scared back up to 90+ psi. You inspire me to go low again and just keep my eyes out for potholes more. You did KETO for this event, I just have to say that my wife has been adhering strictly to KETO (she is always in midrange ketosis measured from blood) for the past year and I swear she has reverse aged about five+ years in that time. Very healthy choice for her.

Hmmmm maybe I'll consider a return if it all that good. How was the stop sign control? for me it got slower and more redundant each year.

Tubeless. The Continental 5000 TL tires are the real deal. I've tried a bunch of others including the first-gen Schwalbe Pro One, but they all get punctures that the sealant can't seal. So bad that I went back to tubes for a while. But I've put many miles on my 5000 TLs and I've yet to experience a sealant shower. Oh, and they're fast, too.

You're close enough that you could take a ride out there and check it out before the next registration comes around.

Stop sign control was good. I slowed a bit the first lap because of the warning about possibly needing to stop, but was waved through. Every other lap I yelled "Clear?" early enough and got waved through without having to slow down. Well, except for Lap 7, when the marshall seemed to be asleep at the switch. She was leaning against the car and when I yelled "Clear?" she jumped up, looked up and down the road quickly and waved me through, but not soon enough the prevent me from having to slow down a little.

That tells me to try tubeless again. Thanks.

That is good to hear, my experience with Pro Ones and Compass tubeless was a nightmare. I love the tubed version of the GP5000, it wears a little better than the GP4000 and so far has been even better in terms of puncture resistance. I have only had one puncture flat in around 11.000 miles riding them. I have have quite a few snake bite flats because I can't see potholes very well at night and I learned that my pump is 11 psi off, so, pumping my tires to 90 psi was only 79 psi for instance. Tubeless would solve the pothole flats.
