I had an amazing experience on Friday, when Cruzbikers Joy and Den invited me to their Cruzbike Candy Shop that serves as both a bent shop and a kayak building shop. I met them many years ago when I was building woodstrip kayaks....which Den is a real pro at!! Den helped me get out of a couple of boatbuilding messes.
So I saw a posting on this or the BROL site referencing CT, so I wrote not knowing who they were. As it turns out, my boatbuilding mentors form the past ALSO had a bunch of exquisite bikes they enjoy. Joy has a Vendetta and Silvio 3.0. Den has a Silvio 2.0 and an Encore. Both have other bents as well for the bumpy trails here in New England.
I hadn't seen a Silvio since I built one about 5 years ago. John T. has created some real works of art.....beautiful!! Due to handlebar interference I couldn't ride, but I did get a chance to do some gliding downhill on Den's S2.0. I had been real concerned about the angled layback of the seat. It felt remarkably OK for the first try. I hope to have the chance some time to laying back and gliding again when I meet Den and Joy for a ride. Also hope to layback on Joy's Silvio 3.0 to feel the difference.
In the end, I will decide which direction to go with the seat angle. It is great to know that the layback I was apprehensive about may actually be an option.....and even a better one for the many reasons I have learned from you all.
Wanted to touch base, and again thank many of you for sharing your experiences with the "seat angle apprehension syndrome" I apparently am experiencing. Thanks to Den's sharing his bike with me, perhaps some systematic desensitization will continue and solve this syndrome of mine.
Thanks again all...
