Hi All

I wonder if you guys can help, I've just bought a front changer for my conversion, however I guess I need another part to clamp the end of the cable outer to the tube as the conversion does have a braze on for the front changer

I guess its something like this that I need:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Clamp-on-Bike-Brake-Gear-Frame-Cable-Stops-31-8mm_W0QQitemZ180485423623QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR?hash=item2a05c50207#ht_545wt_941.

but for a 34.9 diameter tube

Cheers

Close. What you have pictured there is cable stop. You need a derailleur clamp or adapter

Hi Mark and all

I've bought this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220571374776&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D220571374776%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

So do I still need a derailleur clamp or adapter??

Thanks

No, that will bolt right on. However.... Depending on how big your front chainring is. That one is only rated for 48 teeth, max. If you have a road crankset, that may or may not shift well to the big ring. If you are running mountain bike components, you're golden.

Hey CS,

I've used a derailleur like that for 53t big rings, you just have to make sure to adjust the derailleur height to clear the ring at both front and rear of the cage. The gearchange seems to work fine.

It may need just a touch more chainline distance to allow a smooth change into the bottom ring. Some of the Shimano FD's of that type can run out of adjustment to the inside (the cage hits the tube before traveling far enough); a spacer under the BB flange on the drive side (2.5mm) or a slightly longer BB axle (115 or 118mm instead of 113mm) should fix it.

The 34.9mm band is the one you want.

Best,

Doug

I was convinced that the conversion didn't have a Front Gear Frame Cable Stop - but I've finally found it, its under the top tube next to the quick release!!

I bow to the collection wisdom of the forum. (thanks guys!!).

PS I think I've well and truely caught the cruzbike bug - I can't sleep sometimes thinking about all the rides I want to do and how I'm going to fix the camping gear to the bike

cheers CS!!
