An S40 in China. Loving the bike :)

Hi Bentas,

They’re Crank brothers mallet pedals originally designed for downhill mountain biking I think. I find crank brothers pedals easy to engage and they have plenty of float. The egg-beaters are particularly easy to engage with four sides available and they would normally be my pedal of choice. I took these off another bike! They work with mtb shoes so are suitable for walking.

In the UK it is normal for people to cycle in pedestrian places. Nobody complains, not even the police. One-way roads are a different matter. I was going the wrong way, and ahead was a parked police car. The cop pulled out and turned the car sideways to block the road. He even blasted the nee-naa. He wound down his window and gave me a long lecture and I had to turn back.

Oh you’re a bad boy upsetting pc plod. Lucky you did not contribute to inland revenue. In Australia the highway taxman would have booked you and asked to see your bell.

S40 is made in Taiwan, a democratic region of China. The bike crossed the Pacific Ocean twice.

Cruzbike should ship (espcially the framsets) directly from Taiwan for their international customers who are not in the North or South American continents. I think there was a time they used to do that.

So my Silvio came to Essex from Taiwan via Lumberton. I can safely say it did the vast majority of its total mileage before I even saw it. My Grasshopper came from Germany. Pretty local.

My vintage Claud Butler came all the way from Tottenham. I can ride there in 30 minutes.

On the other hand , probably the number of international customer orders are not high enough to justify warehouse costs for a small stock held in Taiwan? :emoji_thinking: Ah, well, I guess, in the end, it's just about what makes business sense, economies of scale e.tc.

I could fly there in 90 minutes... but I understand the reasons why any company would keep tight lines of distribution. So I accept the route it has to come...

My original S 1.0 frame was drop-shipped from Taiwan.
