Anyone ever try out motorcycle touring kit for recumbutt?

So I stumbled across some motorcycle touring discussions and apparently these are used by some long distance tourers. I've got a Thor hardshell seat on my S40 so thought it might be an interesting experiment to try one out under a ventist. Apparently it adds about 1.5cm to the overall depth. Anyone ever try such a thing? Basically, a multi-chamber airpad for the seat you can adjust on the fly.

They have a few models. I might just have to try one for the heck of it: https://airhawk.net/product/cruiser-r-large/

I had one of those on my motorcycle. Alone it doesn’t support your bottom enough, maybe called the abdominal floor, and I ended up with hemorrhoids and it was not that comfortable. Any cushion under a ventisit is an immense improvement and the air cushion should give you a kind of adjustable suspension effect. I used a silicone honey comb cushion I extracted annd cut to fit and it was excellent on my Quest original seat with Ventisit. With the Thor seat I upholstered the pan with 3mm memory foam and a vinyl cover. The Thor I have is wide and the ventisit pad hurt my shoulder blades. The ventisit over the upholstered pan is extremely comfortable. With the 3cm of foam the thinner ventisit would be fine I think.

That might be the way to go then, or at least test is with the memory foam. I was likely being overly hopeful with the air cushion. I was thinking it might also act to help with harsh bumps (cheap mans suspension) but I'll give the memory foam a shot, certainly cheaper to try out :)

OP, did you modify your S40 to fit the Thor seat?
I would really like to go for the thor that has the shape of the nike whoosh rather than a sleeping+tilting L (horizontal bottom)

@bromclist not so much modification. Drilled a few holes in the tabs on the bottom, put in a hard rubber block and 3d printed tpu layer with two bolts through the seat, rubber and tabs. Then some velcro on the back to the existing velcro on the frame. I'm still messing around with it to be honest. After hearing rumors of Thor making a v20/s40 seat I was holding off but guessing that may not materialize. I tried the heated plastic mold approach some others have done but it wasn't the best. So really, I'm still trying to find the ideal setup but it seems to be working with this initial approach.1763699497598.jpg

@RayB beutiful looking bike.
And that seat is what I dream of. (nike whoosh)
I didnt understand much on the modifications though :) - too technical for me.
Your boom assembly seems different from mine though

@bromclist ya my S40 is half 2020 and half 2025 lol. The person I purchased it from was a wee lad so me being a gorilla needed a longer chainstay etc. Instead of going the QR route I ordered up new parts for a thruaxle setup for the front end. I'll try to take a few pics of what I did with the seat setup tomorrow. There are a few threads around of different approaches to mounting the Thor to an S40.
