The D1x made my stock mechanical SRAM groupset electric.
I've been running it for about nine months.
I have no experience with the more expensive electronic groupsets from SRAM or Shimano.
It has proven very easy to use, with great shifts. I have the version that uses the detachable, rechargeable battery, of which I have two. They charge quickly and last a solid 30 hours for me. Your experience may differ depending on the number of shifts you make. If I take a break, I have the auto-off set to 5 min of inactivity to keep from killing the battery. I enjoy the ability to micro-adjust the shifts (even while riding!), putting the power I have into motion versus friction and noise. I have ridden it about 1000 miles, in and out of doors, and it keeps working.
The bottom line is that I have had zero issues and noticeably better shifts.
