Bar End Shifters

Is anyone using these? I'm not worried about gear ratios and stuff like that... I'm more interested in:

A) Do they click into each gear?

B) Has anyone experienced using these while controlling a cruzbike.

The shifter for the front derailleur is friction only, but the rear derailleur (the important one) can be run in indexed OR friction mode.

I like bar end shifters really well and yes, they can be easily managed on a Cruzbike.

Good to hear that someone used them on a cruzbike.

I think I'm going to upgrade the front end for the free rider to get some more gears so I'm going to look at these as a possibility.

Did someone say Bike Bins?
I am rolling with a fairing and a BikeBins pannier.
Heres some bike pr0n to prove it (taken with my iPhone).

The fairing (http://www.mueller-hp.com/gx.htm) fit and shape is good. I can see over it very well. But my hands are on the outside and still get cold. And overall, I just feel like my Silvio is clunky with it. I may think differently when temps start pushing freezing but for now it is just kinda in the way...I may end up taking it off and just rolling with some hippo-hands to keep my hands warm.

The bike bin isn't bad, it does create some drag but for a commute, my real problem is too much space.
When I load it down with too much stuff, (laptop and maybe some food) over about 7 lbs in it I can feel the pull to the left at speeds over 32mph.

I had a thread called "Pogies" back when I remembered by password as SeanBell (same person... but I moved to Alberta now so I'm now 'Cruzing in Edson'). This is a great cure for "Hippo Hands".

The pogies work great, I used my regular riding gloves (normally comfortable at around freezing poing) all the way down to -25 with the second set of pogies I made. Almost too hot actually... I started opening the fronts a little to vent them.

Edit: OOps Hippo Hands is a brand name that makes Pogies... I bet my $.50 vest was cheaper though...

The attachment of a rack to the seat stays is ok only when the rack is evenly loaded. The seat stays are an active suspension element. For larger loads we need to look at the Rack Jon identified with a hinge before its upper connection to a seat post. If that hinge transfers lateral loads, it will be good.
