Bargain or not

Ok... guess some of you still have the odd DF in the garage.

There is a drop dead gorgeous DF on kickstarter from speedx called the Leopard Pro.

I just love the idea of doing a big climb on a light bike. The idea too of packing a light bike into a compact carbon suitcase and travelling around the world appeals to me.

The idea of getting an integrated computer... aero frame... carbon wheelset and Ultegra Di2 is making me sweat too. All for the price of $2k.

I don't know whats coming over me... I NEED HELP

HELP

Whenever friends come to cycle with me... they are always too slow for the Vendetta so more often or not I am going out on a heavy mountain bike or road bike doing a recovery ride.

I always ride the Vendetta fast... it just wants to go. At the end of the ride... sure I am dripping but I have a great smile and no aches. I don't have an ultegra di2 system and this bike does have one. Having an extra set of carbon wheels would be useful. If I had to buy both at retail it would cost me $1500 but with a carbon fibre frameset and computer for an extra $500 its a bargain isn't it?

I could put my old ultegra groupset / wheelset on the Speedx and sell it on. Your thoughts please?

The leopard pro is ultegra di2 with a different type of braking system

It looks like a bargain... they are selling like hot cakes. Now the $2k orders are filled and the $2099 orders are filling up.

But still I am resistant. Why the heck do I need one? I have three bikes already...

And then if you get a very fast car with not so good brakes then there are issues.

Still toying with the idea... what a crazy dream.

I can't find any ride reports.

I don't want to pass on a lemon that could cause someone to lose their teeth.

So I am not going for it.

The Vendetta will always be my favorite.

If things go wrong with the V you can at least barrel roll out of the cockpit with some degree of dignity and besides the top speed of the V is way above that CF.

KickStarter is cool; but I don't know that I'd buy a Carbon from from there; those still take talent to build and debug. There's reason the clones have a habit of exploding. If you were going to re-sell it then no worries; but by the time you pay; and wait it will be XXXX months before you can have it. Mean while you can source Di2 Ultegra for <$900 from france and have it TODAY. :) Or E-tap for $1600; haven't posted my thoughts on the matter yet but I actually think that if you don't need more that a 28T right now; then the E-tap "aero" bundle without Brifters is the best idea for a Vendetta. Allowing the use of low cost sacrificial brake levers that are cheap to replace if damaged.

And the down side of having an integrated computer is that it'll age even faster than the gruppo. If it's a proprietary setup (pretty much has to be, you think?), then you're not going to have a way to swap it out for the next great thing. Cute bike, but there's risk in being an early adopter.
