Battle Between the Queens and Kings

It has to be short or no one will read it—but this story has to be told.

Here’s the quick version: If you thought last week’s Cruzbike battle of Kings and Queens was intense, multiply that by ten and you’ve got last night’s throwdown in Zone 27 of the WTRL TTT.

High Speed’s Captain Otto rolled out the strongest squad ever, dead set on claiming the crown. They thought it’d be easy pickings—until the Cruzbike Chicks latched on at the 9K mark and wouldn’t let go. Instead of dropping off during the High Speed fly-by, the Chicks locked in like a second engine number nine. Otto’s crew threw everything at them, but nothing worked.

This race came down to the final 300 meters.

High Speed lit it up—enough watts to burn toast—and cracked the group. But Connie and Maria weren’t going quietly. In the clutch, Maria Parker surged and picked the pocket of High Speed at the line, sealing an epic win by just eight hundredths of a second (.08). The Cruzbike Queens reign again.

Before these two could find the podium, Low Drag was charging toward the line with Sticky Bottles clinging on like unwelcome hitchhikers. At 1K out, Homeboy Hardy of the Bottles faked a sprint, and Low Drag bit. Chaos ensued. Then “Jailbird” Jim McGowan played it cool, bided his time, and pounced—nabbing what may be his best ride of the year. Sticky Bottles crash the podium! Low Drag has been gangstered, a drive-by just occurred.

So now: Otto's scratching his head, Jim Parker’s been “Chicked” again, The Chicks are all acting like “Oh, were we racing?”, Sticky Bottles is strutting like they won the lottery, and Low Drag is threatening to sit next week out!

Meanwhile, the arms race begins again—looking for new recruits, upgrading bikes, and fresh strategy brewing for next week.

Happy 6th Birthday, WTRL TTT. What a party.
