Battle of the Brands - Bike Sebring 2020

Good idea on getting a handle on logistics @3bs . I would offer up space in our outback but there will be none. As it is the two of us and the two vendettas are all that fit inside. If I can bring the nocom as a backup bike then I am going to have to get creative about how it fits in. Good thing I am good at terris. As for how long we are planning on being down there we are trying to plan around another trip that we need to take to Florida next year that includes a couple nights in Orlando and a couple nights in Daytona. This further complicates carpooling for us. Hopefully others in the area might be more helpful or have more insight into bike shipments.

I am also close to being able to sign up, combining this with a stop in Raleigh to visit a daughter there. Just need to work out one more obstacle. My wife would be coming along, but not a biker. I do have room for a couple of extra bikes in my extended Ford Transit Van, and would be happy to transport for others. @paco1961 and I have been in contact, but nothing definite.

I’m coming from near Milwaukee, which isn’t too far from Grand Rapids for @3bs, except for Lake Michigan being in the way. Don’t know if we can figure out logistics for that!

I should know for sure before this weekend. Sure glad Maria said it didn’t matter if we were fast, because I can train for distance, but not very good at speed.

@woodguy I live 80 miles south of Grand Rapids. If you are driving from Milwaukee, I would meet you where you turn south off 94 onto 65. Actually tons of places to meet at the corner of 65 and 30.

We may have to have t shirts made for CB CRAP racing team

come on America already don’t want Maria being fitted for a bachetta jersey. !!
She already has a Team VITO Racing jersey on in her Profile Page!!!

Maria should change her profile photo to one with a Cruzbike logo Jersey!

Would an added incentive be that the looser has to change their Profile page for a year with the opposition's jersey on??!!

oh dear South Australia spelling bee camp for you.

Loser is spelt loser. From second to last.

team vite not vitabrit or Vito.

embarrassingly disarming I’m sure.

Highly experienced chooser of grammatical, spelling, and word choice errors (me) says: Spell check can't fix wrong word choice.
Why do these rhyme: choose, lose, booze, Cruz, cruise, ruse, twos,
And these rhyme: loose, juice, caboose, papoose, Dr. Seuss, Zeus, truce
and these have same sounds: does, because, cousin, love
Isn't English a wonderful language! Just don't ask how predictable it is or try to teach logic or consistency based on the language. Phonics is amazing and could win the day if only it was spelled "foniks".
I never blame spell check when my own ineptitude fails to measure up to the psychotic idiosyncratic thin-air-heights required by the English language to form a simple sentence. Is poetry easier in other languages because of more consistent sound identification, syllabic rhythm, etc. or is poetry a universal theme of learn to respect the poet for they have a greater skill than thou mortal texter.

timing is bad, and training would be mostly imaginary, but perhaps i could shoot down and do the 100 at a pathetically slow pace. actually it would be fun to create a pace line for the CB CRAP
(cruz bike casual riders actually participating.) then we just try and roll in under 5:00

I think around my top speed, it would still be too slow for drafting. Unless there’s a headwind, and it’s not pushing me backwards.

Sebring is smack dab in the middle of the Florida peninsula. I have no idea what kind of winds to expect. Probably none, on a calm day.

I lived in Daytona Beach for several years and regularly biked from my apartment out near the coast to my college and work, about 5 miles inland.
I always had a headwind against me, both ways, and it wasn’t until I took a class in meteorology until I understood why that was.

does anyone else see the irony in three aussies hacking away about the King's English? oh my dear brothers. LMAO
I'll take that as high praise being lumped in amongst the down-under-lumps. (shh don't tell anyone) I'm actually Canadian - Close enough some might say - and I live in Canada regardless of the timestamp of my posts.

We have our own Canadian bastardization of the million mother dialects that are themselves made up of a mongrel mixture of every other tongue known to man and beast. It mostly revolves around forcing others to not offend others - confusing absolutely. Words like discriminate and discriminate have completely different meanings and "you can't say that?!?" said in an astonished or indignant tone of voice are frequent enough to drive a deaf person to church to listen to the sermon just to experience some freedom from oppressive tolerance and fallacious freedom of speech application.

...it wasn’t until I took a class in meteorology until I understood why that was.
A class in meteorology explained why it was harder for Dad to walk uphill both ways, into a raging headwind, through driving rain, sleet, and snow become a postal worker than for little Johnny to walk to school today? I thought that was something simple such as climate change.

And this side discussion leads us back to where we started - riding bikes for long distances in the middle of winter without snow or cold = Florida February -- wish I could make that party - alas the distance and time required are beyond range.

I brought that to her attention and she told me that picture was taken at her second job. @Maria Parker works nights and weekends for Vito's Pizza delivering pizzas. You make an order and request Maria. She will spin by on the new T50e with the Portland Payload rear rack. She's real fast. Good pizza too.

I think Vito's is making the pizza for the after ride bash.

Yes, if you are 80 miles south of Grand Rapids, meeting at 65 & 30 will be a good option. I am cleared to go and tentatively plan to depart Wisconsin on Sunday Feb 2. Hope that works for you to meet mid morning. If anyone else is on my route from Wisconsin to Sebring & need a bike hauled, let me know. I'm not sure how many I can fit in, but I expect at least 4 or 5.

I signed up for the Century with Bike Sebring & when I signed up on the Battle of the Brands page, it insisted I put something in the "What else do you want to tell us?" box. I told them I was a member of CB CRAP. A T-shirt may be necessary.

@woodguy I will work on obtaining permission to go. I will start working on the shirt. I have the slogan already:

faster than sh*t!

@bladderhead i have good drugs to make my airbags functional advair and albuteral and I only sound like I am dying, I am ready only a tad winded.
@benphyr meant only as a compliment. But as a Canuk your stock is good to. When there are true aussies and Canuks around I don’t stick out as much.

Yep @CruzLike Vito's Pizza. I won't tell you how fast I am, but the T50e does make uphill deliveries more fun. Night job pays for my new woolen underwear necessary for life in New England.
