Big Tube, Classic Yellow, and Rolling Again

Rolling on new wheels.
Stainless bladed spokes!
These run true, spin down very nicely indeed, and brake smoothly.
Since this never gets ridden in the wet, there's really no need for disc brakes.
But I want disc brakes.
There's no need... although down long steep descents, which don't exist here...
Never mind.
Big tube, classic yellow, and rolling again!

These are the original hubs.
I assume that the wheel bearings are original because it looks like I'm
the first person to look past the seals.
The bearings are perfectly smooth, better than new.
The pawls, pawl springs, ratchet teeth, and the other parts are
also in very good shape.
The rims have a little wear on the brake tracks but are otherwise
in very good condition.

You know, a few new SS bladed Sapims and new nipples and these
very nice original hubs and rims could live on.

How long did it take to clean those rims and hubs, as they are like new, NOW!!!!!
Did you go Sapim CX Ray or CX Sprint?

It only took a few minutes per rim, a few seconds per hub, using an old cotton t-shirt, and some automotive wax that also cleans.
-I never wash a bike. Just polish and/or wipe.
Anyway:
Having not bought any parts yet, I'm leaning more to the lightweight CX Ray with aluminum nipples.
Because both my power and weight are very low, I can probably get away with using premium lightweight parts.
(Don't hold your breath or anything, these wheels won't be rebuilt immediately because the ones on the bike are working really well.)

If that was me it could be directly translated to "these wheels will sit on the hook/shelf/storage until such time as they NEED to be pressed into service probably hours if not minutes before a commute to work or other well known upcoming event!"

I rebuilt the stock rear wheel last week and
have ridden it a few times on the slow, rough road, the fast less-rough road, the slow uphill slogs,
and the fast downhill.
IT'S BACK! Er, the back wheel is back in service.
DT Aerolite 2.00 bladed stainless spokes, black; plated brass nipples.
I'm very pleased with the materials used to respoke the wheel.L16_00292.jpg

If you want to sustain 50kph you need all the aero help you need and hide those cables. For sure I prefer and always go out when its dry. It's just the best.

Yes, it's true!
The V is much stiffer than the Sofrider, and the roads I ride are hilly, so that's why the V is the road bike and the Sofrider is on the trainer (for the wet and cold days).
The top speed of my Vendetta is about 31mph whereas the top speed of the Sofrider (as modified by me) is about 32mph... underpowered by me.
If the roads around here were flatter and I was stronger, the V would be on the trainer and my Sofrider would be the road bike.

(The roads where I live are a bit bumpy so I dont max out much ... the vendetta is a bike that commands respect)

My classic yellow big-tube V is rolling on its original rims, both back, and front.
Rebuilt with DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes -heavier/stronger than the Aerolites- and black brass nipples.
I'm not sure that the extra strength is necessary, but the front wheel does do everything!
Note the new tire, new big rings, new chain, spokes, and nipples.L16_00320.jpg
